Mount Kenya National Park - For better acclimatization you can take a rest day at the Shipton camp. Short walks / day hikes to Oblong and Hausberg tarns(lakes) gaining an elevation of 3600m before returning to the camp for lunch. Afternoon is at leisure. N.B: Climbing high and sleeping low is excellent for acclimatization

Mount Kenya National Park - Wake up at 2am for tea and snacks, attempt the summit through a scree and on a rocky track with some very minor scrambling. with a good moon you barely need a torch. The climb takes 3-4 hours and to add to the exhilaration, Mt Kilimanjaro is also visible from the horizon, after a photo session, descend to Minto’s hut for full breakfast. After a short rest descend further to Mt Kenya Bandas along the Gorges valley where you can enjoy good views of the Temple, Lake Michaelson, Mushroom rocks and Giants billiards table Mountain.NDinner and overnight at the Mt Kenya meru Bandas. Here you can enjoy a drink at a fire place, hot shower and bed at the Bandas.

Choosing this path treats you to a panoramic stroll across the drier segments of the mountain, boasting some of the most splendid hikes. Your ascent begins in the forest, eventually opening up to a vast ridge leading to the peak. The journey originates on the mountain’s northwest side, near Nanyuki. On this flank of the mountain, access is seamless, and the bunk house accommodations are second to none.
