Highlights
  • Bomas of Kenya - Your tour starts by pick you from your Nairobi Hotel or accommodation at 1pm.

Here you will experience the rich culture of Kenya’s 42 different ethnic groups as they live on their day-to-day basis. This is clearly demonstrated through traditional dances, music, song, and folklore. There is a splendid arena where acrobatic shows are performed.

The Bomas of Kenya put on displays of traditional dancers and spread over many acres, it also has a wonderful display of mud huts and traditional Kenyan homesteads. The Bomas of Kenya is the ideal place to bring energetic children as they can freely run in and out of the traditional houses & mud huts, climb up ladders and generally have a wonderfully active time.

These traditional houses are set out in clusters according to the region. The homes are grouped with the first wife’s hut, second wife’s hut, granary etc and you can see where the livestock are kept and the enormous variety between the huts.

Bomas of Kenya was initiated in 1971 after Kenya’s independence (1964) and it is run by the Kenyan Government and aims to promote Kenya’s rich cultural heritage.

In addition to the main attractions (the dancers and the traditional homesteads), there is also a large, wooden play area for young children, a small, low-key village of craft shops and other attractions.

Awesome! Best tour during my whole time in Kenya. - Although Bomas was closed due to the election, they offered to do a different excursion, I was hesitant at first, but had an amazing time! Stephen is a great guide, funny, warm and took good care of me. We went to a lovely spot for lunch--super delicious food, and service. Grace responded to communications quickly and thoroughly answered my questions. When I go back to Kenya I will definitely contact Grace to arrange other tours/events. (Although they didn't know it was my birthday-- I had such a good time, I couldn't have had a better birthday experience :) Thank you!)

A MUST! - A must-go if you're visiting Kenya. It represents all the tribes in Kenya with replicas of their homes called Bomas. You will be amazed on how diversified the tribes are which were to roots of today. In the afternoon, there are dance performances for around 1-2 hours. Excellent!

Dont expect much - Better go by yourself there, dont buy a tour. first they take you to the souvenir market, then to another. I met my tour guide at 1pm and the show itself started at 3.30pm. After i finished my shopping guide completely lost interest in me. Show itself was fine, but way less spectacular than i expected.
