The Maasai community live in small mud-thatched villages, surrounded by their cattle and smaller livestock. For hundreds of years the Masai have roamed these lands of Kenya and Tanzania, living a free, nomadic lifestyle. Their traditional lands now comprise much of Kenya’s national parks.

A highlight of your safari vacation is a visit with these Maasai people. Many of the tribes welcome visitors to their villages to view up close their culture and lifestyle.

New learning experience - Being on a solo tour with Tim as a guide might seem intimidating, but his professionalism along with the information and knowledge shared by Tim and the Maasi people, with their guide, Alfred, made this a worthwhile learning experience. The Maasai people were patient to teach and share about their culture and life, and I was willing to learn, so an overall new and informative day. And based on earlier reviews, I also brought some candies for the children so you may consider doing so too!

Wonderful and Amazing Tour - The Maasai Village tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Mwose (Moses) was wonderful and so informative! We felt like we were immersed in their culture. The Maasia were just great! So sweet and welcoming. I would give Mwose and the tour company 10 out of 10. Highly recommend!!

Great experience, great guide - Moses picked us up from our hotel, one not listed in the options. Good conversation on the way. He answered our many questions throughout the day, and explained many aspects of Masai life, or was translating as people from the village explained or demonstrated things to us. It was a great experience and I highly recommend Moses and the experience.

An experience to remember! - This was one of the most fascinating and insightful experiences thus far while in Nairobi, Kenya. We learned so much about Masai culture and lifestyle. The village made us feel right at home by welcoming us into their way of life, introducing us to their family and their traditions. Our tour guide Obed was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and transported us to and from our lodge safely and on time. Coming from the U.S. this was by far the most memorable experience during our time in Nairobi! Thank you Safari Port! We will be back

Good experience - Awesome experience seeing and meeting the people of the Masai village. Our guide picked us up from our hotel on time and was very engaging. He was very knowledgeable about the history and customs of the village. FYI- the villagers sell jewelry pieces that they make themselves, and they expect tips/donations in exchange of the jewelry. So you should bring shilling’s along. We weren’t aware of this so didn’t have much money on us, which resulted in a slightly awkward exchange. But other than that, I definitely recommend experiencing this tour.

Do not let them scam you! - Here is the deal. On safari you will visit lots of Maasai shops. On tour they will bring out all their items. YOU MUST bargain. They start stupid high. For something that is a dollar usd they will tell you 20. They are so poor and so good at the hustle. They also do not take no for an answer. Cheaper ways to get souvenirs. At the entrance gates to the parks. At village market in nairobi. Never at the shops along the drive. The village visit money is plenty. It's a good experience if you just don't shop and succumb to the begging.
