Highlights
  • Nairobi National Park - You will go to the Nairobi National park through the main gate for a 3 hour game drive. Your guide will be aiming to show you as much variety of animals as possible. If you’re lucky, you may spot the rhinos and lions getting ready for the day.
  • Ivory Burning Site & Picnic Area - This is one the most important landmarks in the annals of conservation: it was here that Kenyan president Daniel arap Moi made a dramatic statement to poachers by setting fire to 11 tonnes of seized ivory in 1989. The event improved Kenya’s conservation image at a time when East African wildlife was being decimated by relentless poaching, and it’s widely credited as playing a role in turning the tide against poaching in Kenya.

Packed half day in Nairobi - best spots - We had a fantastic trip to Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick Elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Centre with Paul, our brilliant and very kind guide. Perfect Wilderness created a bespoke trip that catered to our needs and timings. Paul then dropped us at our final destination in Naivasha. Our driver and guide, Paul, picked us up promptly from our hotel at 6am and looked after us and all our belongings throughout the trip. It was an early start and we took a short drive to Nairobi National Park from our hotel. He took care of all the entrance fees and negotiations, gave a thorough explanation of the park and helped us spot some incredible animals - lions, giraffes, rhinos to name but a few. Paul was very accommodating and flexible to our needs and very knowledgeable on all questions asked. He was also thoughtful and considerate to our young children. He provided water for the journey, ensured all our needs were met and was flexible to any slight changes to our plan (e.g. a request of a particular restaurant for lunch). He also gave knowledgeable advice on how we should most efficiently plan our day to maximise benefit. We then took a short drive to Sheldrick elephant orphanage which was incredible. Would recommend to arrive early/stay within the park to avoid the long queues. We had left the park grounds to escape for a coffee shop stop and so there was a little queue to re-enter. However, once inside, the experience was unforgettable. Learning about the incredible work they do and the individual heartbreaking stories of the orphaned elephants and rhinos there was well worth it. The giraffe centre was a short add onto the trip and Paul got us there efficiently to avoid the crowds. He then drove us to our final destination in Naivasha. It was a super trip and very efficient way to see so much of Nairobi in a morning. Perfect Wilderness were very easy to contact by email initially and gave a competitive price for the package. They continued to be very responsive to any questions or queries in the run up to our trip. Would highly recommended Perfect Wilderness and in particular, Paul.
