- Nairobi National Park - Nairobi, the world’s only wildlife capital, hosts the Nairobi National Park. As the sole protected wildlife area within a city globally, this park provides the chance to witness at least four of the Big Five: Lions, Rhinos (both black and white), Buffalos, and the elusive Leopard. For those with a brief stay in Nairobi, whether on a layover or vacation, this park is ideally situated to offer a glimpse of Kenya’s natural wonders. Arrive at the airport, enjoy a safari in the park on the same day, and return to the airport for your next flight! An early morning departure, if possible, ensures cooler temperatures and increases the likelihood of spotting free-roaming animals in the savanna. The pop-up safari vehicle offers a stunning view of Nairobi’s skyline and skyscrapers as a backdrop to your safari! Visit the historic ivory and rhino horn burning site within the park. Optionally, visit the baby elephants and watch them being fed milk.
- Giraffe Centre - Following an optional visit to the elephant orphanage and an engaging game drive, head to the Giraffe Centre to learn about conservation efforts for the endangered Rothschild Giraffe.
The Giraffe Centre is an initiative of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organization. Its primary aim is to educate Kenyan school children and youth about their country’s wildlife and environment, while also providing local and international visitors with an opportunity to interact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.
Before visiting the giraffes, you can enjoy lunch and then proceed to the Giraffe Centre.
- Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - Gain insight into conservation efforts at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The Nairobi nursery rescues and rehabilitates baby elephants, reintegrating them into the wild after three years at the Ithumba Reintegration Unit north of Tsavo East. This is a must-visit for anyone who values wildlife and the importance of conserving these vital species for future generations.
- KOBE TOUGH Beads & Leather - (OPTIONAL) You will then be taken to Kobe Tough Beads and Leather, a pottery company renowned for creating some of the world’s most beautiful beads. You will be guided through all the stages from start to finish. This unique factory employs single mothers from underprivileged neighborhoods, providing them with a livelihood to support their families. It serves as a women empowerment center for the community. The center was established by women who previously worked for Kazuri Beads Factory, which closed during the pandemic. This opportunity allowed them to continue supporting their families.
You then have the option of being driven to lunch and then to your hotel, followed by a later drop-off at the hotel.
- Utamaduni Craft Centre - (OPTIONAL) After an exciting tour of the beads factory, we are delighted to take you to the Utamaduni Crafts Centre at your convenience, or we will proceed to your drop-off.
Utamaduni, the best African craft shop in Nairobi, is a must-visit on the way to some of the exciting venues in Nairobi’s green suburb of Karen/Langata, known for the famous writer Karen Blixen’s original farm with stunning views of the Ngong Hills. Include a visit to this unique house of crafts during your Nairobi visit.
The shop, a converted Kikuyu house with 18 shops, is a treasure trove of African crafts, antiques, and art, with friendly staff to assist and help pack or ship if needed.
After shopping, enjoy refreshments in the large, beautiful garden restaurant, and if you are a bird watcher, the many exotic birds will keep you entertained.
Ensure Utamaduni is part of your Kenya holiday itinerary.
After such a vibrant day, we will drop you off at your hotel or the airport to catch your flight.
