- Lake Naivasha - Start with a pick-up from Nairobi at 7:00 AM. Upon arriving at the park around 9:00 AM, embark on a 2-hour guided bike tour: look out for herds of Thompson’s gazelle, eland, zebra, and hartebeest as you ride. Keep an eye on the sky throughout the tour, as Hell’s Gate National Park is home to over 100 species of birds, including Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzards, vultures, and swifts.
Continue on foot into the park’s unique gorges, where narrow passageways and caves are carved into sedimentary rock. After a 1-hour walk, visit a local Maasai community to learn about traditional life and customs in the Great Rift Valley. Then, head to Naivasha Fisherman’s Camp at 1:00 PM for lunch (at your own expense).
- Lake Naivasha - At 2:00 PM, drive to Lake Naivasha for a 1-hour boat tour. Spot the hippos that linger just below the water’s surface and observe some of the diverse birdlife, including African fish eagles, lesser flamingos, African spoonbills, and little grebes. From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, enjoy a drive back to your location.
