Best Day Ever with Rustic Nature Tours - As a solo female traveler, I did my due diligence of research looking for a provider to take me on a day tour from Nairobi. I saw Rustic Nature tours recommended on several different Facebook sites that I follow and in particular had seen recommendations from other solo travelers so I gave them a call to set up a private tour. I am so glad that I chose them because the trip was perfection. I could not have asked anymore from them or from the guide they provided, Linus, who was absolutely the best I could have ever gotten. This was hands-down, the best day that I had in Kenya. I toured Hells Gate, Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island. The weather had rain in the forecast, and I was very concerned that we were going to be rained out. However, Linus was in constant contact with people in the area we were traveling to to make sure that everything was going to be OK and he was ready to rearrange as necessary. Luckily I did everything that I wanted to do before the rain appeared. Linus went out of his way to make sure that I was comfortable and getting the experience that I wanted. After picking up a bike for the ride through Hells Gate, Linus followed me with the vehicle to make sure I had everything I needed. That way I did not have to carry my backpack or worry about water. Also he told me if I got tired we could just pack up the bike and drive from that point. He was there when I needed him, especially when I had a flat tire. Not sure what I would’ve done if he hadn’t been there. When we exited the park. I saw other drivers and vehicles just waiting for their clients to come back. Linus gave me the personal attention that I desired during this trip and really took care of me as a solo female traveler. He also made sure I didn’t miss any important sites. At one point he told me to park the bike and we went on a short nature walk. To my surprise, he took me right to baboon colony that I got to photograph. It was spectacular. I would have never known it was there if Linus hadn’t have been there to show me the way. Throughout the day, he also had my camera taking videos and photos of me experiencing Hells Gate and Crescent Island. These are memories that I will never forget that he captured - me riding the bike alongside zebras and walking amongst the giraffes were just two of the highlights of the day. This day exceeded all of my expectations and I would highly recommend Rustic Nature tours and don’t forget to request Linus as your guide, you will not be disappointed.

Hell’s Gate and Lake Navaisha - Douglas was our guide and driver. Our tour was to Hell’s Gate and Lake Navaisha, approximately 2 hours from Nairobi on a heavily travelled road. Douglas did a fantastic job of navigating the many trucks, motorcycles and other motorists. He was generous with his time and knowledge. We enjoyed having lunch with and learning about his culture and family. Would highly recommend.

Great day trip from Nairobi - Fantastic tour i would defintely recommed this if you are in Kenya. Punctual, friendly and very well organised. The boat ride was a highlight seeing hippos in the water, and all the animals and bird life on the island, especially the eagles catching fish from m the water. Cycling through the valley is a great experience. Dennis our driver was great and made sure we were where we needed to be!

Wonderful Experience - Wonderful experience made even more wonderful by stellar hosts. Denish arrived at my hotel and was a great driver over the 2 hour ride to the park, stopping at an overlook of the great rift valley. We arrived at Hell’s Gate and Reagan took me though the part with an excellent knowledge of the land, wildlife who inhabit the park and the people who once inhabited the area. Highly recommended this trip! Would consider, unless very hungry, to skip the lunch portion and continue straight to the boat ride for a quicker return to Nairobi. Again many thanks to Reagan and Denish for being wonderful hosts!

Unforgettable experience! - Kelvin picked me up from the airport and drove through the Rift Valley. We stopped at a view point that was stunning! He is very knowledgeable about history, nature, geography and other facts! Kelvin had a lovely surprise prepared for me when we got to Hell’s Gate… A brilliant bike guide, Gadafi, that speaks Spanish among a bunch of other languages! Gadafi rode with us through the reserve, explained us a lot about the surroundings in a very kind and attentive manner. After the bike tour, we had lunch at lake Naivasha and then I got to enjoy a fantastic boat tour through the lake, that is full of wildlife. We passed very close to different families of hippos! The tour was magnificent and would definitely repeat it in my next travel to Nairobi! Asante, my friend.

Without exaggeration, the best tour experience I’ve ever had - I don’t generally leave reviews for tours, but I need to make an exception for Kelvin at Rustic Nature Tours. I booked an impromptu 1-day tour to Hell’s Gate with a bicycle and boat trip. He was punctual and courteous, and his transport was impeccable. But it was his wealth of knowledge, not only about Kenya, the flora and fauna at the park, and cultural and social matters, but also his breath of expertise on topics of sustainability, development, and international affairs. He is exceptionally passionate about his craft, and it shows in his commitment to service and sensitivity to his clients well being. I cannot recommend him more strongly. Exceptional Tour Guide to Hell's Gates, Kenya - Our recent trip to Hell's Gates in Kenya was an extraordinary experience, thanks to our exceptional tour guide Kelvin. Kelvin made contact with us a few days before the tour began to confirm the pick up arrangements from our hotel. From the moment we set off, it was evident that we were in the hands of a true expert. Kelvin runs many yours across Kenya's national parks so he is in expert in local wildlife, flora, and fauna. Every step of the journey was accompanied by insightful commentary, providing us with a deeper understanding of the ecosystem and its intricate balance. Our tour began with a stop at the rift valley view point with an opportunity to visit some of the local woodcraft shops and then we continued on to hell's gate where Kelvin arranged bikes to hire and used us on to a friendly local guide who spoke 10 languages and was very happy to answer all of our questions as we rode our bikes through the park. Not only was our guide well-versed in nature, but they also shared a wealth of information about the Masai people, enriching our cultural experience and fostering a sense of connection and understanding with them. After the hell's gate excursion, Kelvin took us for a camp lunch and then over to Naivasha lake for a private boat tour of the lake where we were able to see hippos and various bird species. Our captain even brought some fish along to entice the fish eagle to dive down towards the lake. The journey itself was smooth and comfortable. We felt safe and at ease throughout the excursion, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the natural wonders surrounding us. Thanks Kelvin, we really appreciated the trip that you made for us.

Highly Recommend in Nairobi - Eco-Friendly - The tour was fantastic. Being up close to the animals was out of this world and not doable with a safari car. Bonus biking is such an eco-friendly mode of transport to ensure less emissions and noise pollution for the animals. Kelvin made the drive enjoyable and is easy to talk to about Nairobi and world events. The guide David for Hell’s Gate was super helpful and encouraging when hitting tough terrain. With his excellent skills was able to see all the key animals in the park - giraffes, zebra, buffalo, vultures, etc. I wouldn’t have noticed without his guidance. The tour was well organized and great communication. Lunch at the camp and the lake ride was appreciated to cool down after the cycle.

A memorable day - I had the best time visiting Hell’s Gate. Kelvin picked us up promptly and was a careful, safe, and skilled driver with a very clean and comfortable ride. He introduced us to our knowledgeable guide David whose passion for wildlife and nature inspired us throughout the park. Our bikes were sturdy and the 16 km ride (in total) plus the short hike to view the gorge was lovely, do-able, and great exercise. The unique landscape and animals can be admired throughout the ride too. The pleasure on top was Kelvin taking us to a cute spot for lunch at an excellent restaurant & a relaxing warm boat ride. Lots of birding life and of course lots of hippos! Highly recommend!!
