At an elevation of 8,848m (29,028ft) above sea level, Mount Everest holds the title of the world’s tallest mountain. Its peak was conquered for the first time on May 29, 1953, by a New Zealander named Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, attracting climbers worldwide thereafter. Locally, the Everest region is identified as Sagarmatha National Park. This area is the homeland to the renowned Sherpa people who migrated from eastern Tibet across the Himalayan range, establishing their community in the late 1400s and early 1500s. The route to Everest Base Camp ploughs through the Himalayan heartland. The majestic mountain panorama and the Sherpa community’s comfort and simplicity are strikingly beautiful. You will be treated to breath-taking views of Mount Everest and its neighbouring peaks, while also having the opportunity to visit Sherpa communities and monasteries to understand their way of life and tradition. Overall, this is an incredible trek in Nepal’s stunning region.
