Spreetshoogte Pass - The Spreetshoogte Pass crosses the Great Escarpment, linking the Namib Desert with the Khomas Highland. Spanning 50.4 kilometers, it connects Solitaire to Nauchas and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Originally built during World War II by farmer Nicolaas Spreeth, the pass was constructed to provide access to his farm, Ubib, situated at the base of the escarpment. From the top of the Spreetshoogte Pass, one can enjoy one of Namibia’s most stunning views, where the land descends approximately 2000 meters, offering a natural vantage point over the expansive, semi-desert plains and the arid mountains beyond.
Solitaire - Located in the Khomas region of Central Namibia, the desert town of Solitaire acts as an oasis in the Namib Desert. It serves as a crucial stop on the journey to the ancient dunes of Sossusvlei, allowing travelers to replenish supplies as they venture further into the wilderness. Solitaire also features a small bar and is famous for its renowned apple pie, reputed to be the best in the country. Visitors can enjoy a scenic sundowner with views of the spectacular Namib Desert, hike and bike through the pristine natural surroundings, or visit the delightful local Cheetah Sanctuary.
Sesriem Canyon - Sesriem Canyon is a mesmerizing natural wonder situated in the heart of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Formed over millions of years by the Tsauchab River, this narrow gorge showcases the power of erosion. The name Sesriem derives from the Afrikaans and Dutch words for six leather straps, which early pioneers used to tie together to draw water from the deep pools within the canyon. Sesriem Canyon is not only a geological marvel but also a refuge for unique desert flora and fauna, making it a popular destination for tourists exploring the surreal landscapes of the Namib Desert.
Sossusvlei - Nestled in the picturesque Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is home to the iconic red sand dunes, making it one of Africa’s most scenic natural wonders and a photographer’s paradise. This breathtaking destination is arguably Namibia’s top attraction, with its distinctive dunes reaching nearly 400 meters, ranking them among the highest in the world.

Namib-Naukluft Park - An early start is necessary to reach the Namib Naukluft Park gate. Once the gate opens, the guide will proceed to drive to Dune 45, where visitors will hike up the dune, then continue to Deadvlei, Big Daddy, Sossusvlei, and finally take a short hike into the Sesriem Canyon. If time allows, a well-deserved lunch at Sesriem is recommended before driving back to Windhoek, arriving in the late afternoon.
