Discover Nanjing of the Republican Era: not only for history buffs! - Nanjing was not only one of the great ancient capitals of imperial China, but also of the early republic. A story as bloody as it is fascinating. The tour offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in this recent and little-known historical period in Italy, which runs from 1912 to 1949. I was lucky enough to be accompanied by Guide Lia, absolutely up to her task. With his excellent English with an equally retro accent to Queen Elizabeth of England, and with his experience full of information and anecdotes, I could enjoy the atmosphere of the 1920s and 1930s of the residence of the First Lady wife of General Chiang Kai-shek, to move on to the immense mausoleum dedicated to the father of the Republic, Dr. Sun Yat Sen, overlooking the entire city, and to finish the Presidential Palace in the city center, which saw the succession of Ming princes, Qing authorities, up to Sun Yat Sen. The first two sites are immersed in the wonderful greenery of a forest on Mount Purple, while the last includes beautiful traditional gardens. Rain or shine, it's an absolutely fascinating tour! I reluctantly chose to replace the famous Nanjing Massacre Museum, the bloodiest and most terrifying part of its history as a country invaded by Japan (beginning of World War II) because it is a shocking experience. In its place I chose to visit the tomb and park of the first Ming Emperor, who made Nanjing his capital, before moving it permanently to Beijing. In the park there is also the tomb of an emperor dating back almost two thousand years. The enthusiasm of my Guide was palpable: Nanjing is deeply rooted in the history of China, in fact it is one of the most visited destinations by domestic tourism. I just have to strongly recommend this experience, made more vivid, interesting and comfortable at the same time thanks to the professionalism and sympathy of Lia, the driver who accompanied us in his large and luxurious van, and the organizer Alana. Visit Nanjing!

Great tour of Nanjing! - We really enjoyed our tour of Nanjing. Savor was very knowledgeable about Nanjing. We elected to go to the Nanjing Museum instead of the Nanjing Massacre Museum just because it gave us a broader overview of the city. Savor was also helpful in giving us restaurant recommendations and making reservations.
