Napier tour - Guide was well versed in the history and architecture of Napier. Very interesting. Between videos and walking tour was about right

An informative and enjoyable walking tour! - It is well worth paying a little extra for the most in depth session! Simon was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging throughout. His input both before and during the walking tour was outstanding. He pointed out many features and small details that we would never have noticed. He also included anecdotes to add local colour to the afternoon. He was very considerate of the group’s needs on a hot day and found shady spots for us to stop as required! We saw and learnt a great deal about the fascinating history of the town. Highly recommended! The Art Deco Trust shop is fascinating and well stocked. All staff were friendly - their costumes and enthusiasm were excellent too!

Take the tour, but book direct. - Beware when buying through TripAdvisor, I thought we were paying in NZ$, turns out it was US$ - twice the price! Despite the shock currency issue, this tour is a must. The volunteer guides do an awesome job, providing detail, humor and structure to the tour. We learnt so much, and our eyes are now open to detail we would never have realized by our selves. The afternoon tour is longer, which is better, and is less likely to have cruise ship passengers. If you can book direct through the Art Decco Trust, it's a charity and all the income is used to help preserve the buildings. TripAdvisor will obviously take a cut if you book through them.

Fabulous Art Deco guided walk - Fantastic walking tour with extremely knowledgeable guide. Napier is a stunning town and it is like stepping back in time to the 1930’s. Highly recommended!

Great art deco walk - Very interesting walk. The guides were very thorough and provided a lot of history, both about Napier in general and about the different styles of architecture. Everyone was very friendly and organized.

Guided tour of the Art Deco township central - What an eclectic township. The guided tour, including a short film on the history behind it, really opened our eyes to this wonderfully unique place. With informative, in costume, local guides and lessons in identification of Art Deco elements, this was like a treasure hunt. From the heritage centre to the shopping precinct, seafront and most in between. Enthused us into more in depth meandering for our own enjoyment just to really to capture the essence of this extravaganza of Art Deco in reality. Well worth the walk, even between the rain drops, as it were, for us
