Make the most of a beautiful area - I have a particular interest in Art Deco. Napier, competely rebuilt in 1931 after an earthquake, is celebrated for its unique streetscapes. Our tour guide, Tere, took us inside some of the most famous buildings such as at the National Gin Distillery, on to Hastings for a lunch stop in a historic restaurant, then to Mission in Hawke's Bay for a wine-tasting. Finally, a walk along the sea-front at Napier where a memorial tells its history among beautiful gardens. Tere, our guide, was most friendly and brought each place to life with her stories. Highly recommended.
