• Kasuga Grand Shrine - This World Heritage Site, originally established in the 8th century, features a main hall built in 1863, now recognized as a National Treasure. Over the last 1200 years, nearly 3,000 stone lanterns have been donated, adorning the shrine’s pathways and grounds. Situated next to Nara Park, the shrine provides visitors with the unique chance to encounter and feed the numerous deer that freely roam its grounds.
• Nara Park - According to legend, in the 7th century, a deity descended on the mountain behind Kasuga Taisha, arriving on a deer. As a result, deer have been venerated as divine messengers in Nara since ancient times. Today, around 1,300 deer inhabit Nara Park, cherished by visitors from around the globe. The chance to see these deer up close and capture photos makes Nara Park a favorite spot for families and individuals of all ages.
• Wazuka-cho - For 800 years, Uji tea, the cornerstone of Japan’s tea culture, has been cultivated in this valley, surrounded by mountains and crossed by a river. This area, rich in natural beauty, remains largely undiscovered by most visitors to Japan. Just an hour from Kyoto city, this region offers unique experiences such as MATCHA production, processing, factory tours, tea ceremonies, tea farm walks, and Zen temple retreats.

For those seeking to escape the busy city of Kyoto and immerse themselves in 800 years of Japanese culture and nature, this secluded green space filled with birdsong is ideal for families and individuals of all ages. All experiences are hosted in traditional Japanese houses or Zen temples.

Hello, my name is Masae. After exploring over 40 countries and living abroad for more than 7 years, I returned home to share my passion for Matcha and the rich cultural history of Japan with the world!

The day begins in Nara with a visit to the most popular shrine and the deer park. Following this, there is an opportunity to meet local Matcha farmers and be welcomed into a traditional Japanese-style home to enjoy a delicately crafted Matcha lunch set. Participants can also engage in Matcha and tea tasting sessions.

Not only will you learn everything about Matcha, but you will also have the chance to smell, taste, and even take home some premium Matcha from a farm that was once owned by the Imperial Family.
