Although the current reconstruction from 1692 is only two-thirds the size of the original temple hall, Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall), the main hall of Todaiji, remains one of the largest wooden structures globally. The temple houses a 15-meter-tall seated Buddha representing Vairocana, flanked by two Bodhisattvas.

- Todai-ji Temple - Tōdai-ji is a prominent Buddhist temple in Nara, Japan, established in the early 8th century during the Nara period. It is one of Japan’s most renowned and historically significant temples. The temple’s main hall, Daibutsuden, is among the largest wooden buildings worldwide and houses a massive bronze Buddha statue, known as the Daibutsu or Great Buddha. This statue stands over 15 meters tall and weighs approximately 500 tons, making it one of the largest bronze statues globally.
