After checking in, relax in the afternoon until evening. At 4 pm, depart for a game viewing drive in the Mara Reserve until late, then return to the camp for dinner.
Rift Valley Province - On the way to Maasai Mara, you’ll have a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. Originally named the ‘Great Rift Valley’ by British explorer John Walter Gregory, this geographic stretch extends 6000km across the Middle East and Africa from Jordan to Mozambique. The valley showcases tremendous topographic diversity with its scarps, volcanoes, lakes, ancient granitic hills, flat desert landscapes, and coral reefs and islets. The view as you approach from Nairobi, Kenya, is quite astonishing. The ground seems to disappear beneath you, extending thousands of kilometers in either direction. This is an excellent introduction to the Kenyan Rift Valley, and the most amazing part of this experience is delving deeper to explore the Lake System of the Rift.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Spend the entire day exploring Mara in search of the Big Five. Enjoy picnic lunches in the Reserve as you traverse the Mara. On this day, we’ll go all the way to the Mara River, the site of the great wildebeest migration and river crossing. Even if it’s not migration season, it’s still a sight to behold with many resident hippos and crocodiles basking in the sun. You’ll also see numerous grazing animals coming to quench their thirst. Optional: In the evening, visit a Maasai village for a cultural tour at USD 20. Learn about the Maasai community and interact with the local Maasai people. An optional balloon safari at USD 380 per person can be organized early in the morning on this day, then proceed with the normal program. The Mara is where perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration.
Mara River - This is the site where the migration of animals occurs, with large herds of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River. You’ll also take a guided walk along the banks of the Mara River with an armed ranger to see some Nile crocodiles and hippos.
