Highlights
  • Mt. Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station - This is the highest point of Mt. Fuji (2200m) accessible by car, making it a popular spot for hikers. It offers the closest view of Mt. Fuji’s summit and provides a magnificent view of the city from various viewpoints.

P.S. The station is accessible via the Fuji Subaru Line, a scenic toll road that ascends Mount Fuji’s lower northern slopes, starting in Fujikawaguchiko Town. The toll fee is 2100 yen, and the road may be partially closed in winter due to heavy snow. Additionally, during most of the climbing season (July 5 to September 10, 2024), the road is closed to private vehicles, with shuttle buses operating between designated parking areas at the mountain’s base and the 5th station.

  • Arakurayama Sengen Park - This is a peace memorial park featuring Shinto shrines and approximately 400 steps leading to breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji at various elevations. The Chureito Pagoda at the top was built in memory of soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in World War I and II. It is renowned for its stunning views and photography opportunities of Mt. Fuji from the observatory deck.

  • Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchi is the second largest of the Mt. Fuji Five Lakes, offering beautiful views of Mt. Fuji. The Kachi Kachi Ropeway takes visitors to an observation point near the summit of Mount Tenjo, where both Lake Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji can be seen. The area also features numerous hot springs for relaxation.

  • Oishi Park - Located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, Oishi Park offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The park includes a 350m walking path lined with flowers; from early April to late May, moss phlox flowers create a pink carpet, from late June to late July, lavender blooms, and from mid to late October, kokia shrubs display their vibrant red autumn colors. The contrast between the flowers and Mt. Fuji is breathtaking.

The park also hosts the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, where visitors can make fruit jam and enjoy an all-you-can-eat cherry and blueberry picking course. A café offers specialty blueberry ice cream.

  • Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai consists of eight springs in Oshino, Yamanashi, Japan, where aquifer water from Mount Fuji surfaces. These springs are a Natural Monument of Japan and part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site. Winter provides a particularly stunning view of “Diamond Fuji,” a phenomenon where the sun aligns perfectly with Mt. Fuji’s peak.

A small open-air museum, the Hannoki Bayashi Shiryokan, surrounds the largest pond, with a small admission fee. The water in Waku Pond is exceptionally clear and clean, and visitors are encouraged to drink it and take some home. It’s an excellent place for gifts and souvenirs, with amazing street food available.

  • Gotemba Premium Outlets - This shopping mall features premium outlets of well-known brands. Including this in your itinerary is optional, so please discuss it with the driver in the morning if interested.

Great time! - Irfan was a great guide and driver for the day. We had a wonderful time! We made 5 stops and had plenty of time at each stop. We were lucky to have blue skies, so Mount Fuji was visible!

Great Fuji Experience! - Our guide, Mulky, was professional and so polite. He recommended a solid Mt Fuji experience and we left Tokyo early enough to beat the crowds. We lucked out on weather, so Fuji was visible and we captured some amazing photos. Mulky also took us to a 1000 year old shrine (Kitaguchi) which was a real treat, something not on our radar. He was a very safe driver and gave us some history about Japan and Fuji along the way. Highly recommend seeing Fuji with Mulky!

First class trip to Mount Fuji - We were delighted to get to Subaru Line Station 5 on Mount Fuji and to see other nearby attractions. Despite the long drive through Tokyo traffic, our driver Irfan was helpful, informative and accommodating, without being intrusive, to our highly enjoyable family trip. Driving was to a high standard and the car was spacious, comfortable and well presented inside. First class outing.

Your experience will hinge on who you get as a Guide. - I loved the idea of having a dedicated tour guide and we could work off our own schedule. Also, it was awesome that we didn't have to worry about transportation which would be stress free. As this has great potential, there is a downside. This all hinges on drawing a great guide. Keep in mind that this person is who you will be spending all day with. Our guide was ok, there were times we felt rushed. We never made it to station 5 ... and due to heavy traffic, ended up taking some backroads to get home. To be honest, was a little scared on crazy the driver was. Our only pro was the door to door service. For this cost, I would not recommend.
