During the hiking season, access to the 5th station is restricted. You must take a shuttle bus, which costs 2100¥ per person.
- Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchiko is a beautiful lake and serves as the gateway to the Fuji Five Lakes area. You can enjoy a ship cruise or take a ropeway cable car up to Kachi Kachi Mountain. From here, you can get a clear view of Mt. Fuji if the weather is good.
Separate entry fees apply for the ship cruise and ropeway cable car.
- Ensoleille Excursion Ship Pleasure Boat Kawaguchiko - You can experience both a ship cruise and the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway cable car up to Kachi Kachi Mountain, offering close views of Mt. Fuji.
The cruise boats at Lake Kawaguchiko offer a 20-minute ride that brings you close to Mt. Fuji, providing clear views if the weather is clear.
The ship cruise requires an additional fee, or you can simply take pictures and move on to the next spot.
The ropeway cable car goes up to Kachi Kachi Mountain, offering close views of Mt. Fuji if the weather is not rainy or cloudy.
- Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai, or the Eight Seas of Oshino, consists of eight ponds located in the Fuji Five Lakes area, on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out centuries ago. The ponds are fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji that filters through volcanic rock over several decades, making the waters remarkably clear and pristine.

- Owakudani Kurotamago Kan - Owakudani is one of the most popular places to visit in Hakone, known for its steaming thermal volcanic vents in the mountains.
The black eggs, boiled in sulfurous waters, have distinctive shells. Eating these eggs is believed by Japanese people to add seven years to your life span.
You can get a close, clear view of Mt. Fuji from here if the weather is good.
- Lake Ashinoko - Lake Ashinoko is a beautiful lake, home to the famous Hakone Shrine with its large red torii gate along the shore, known as the “Gate of Peace” (heiwa no torii). The gate was erected in 1952 to commemorate the crown prince’s reign and Japan’s independence.
You can take a pirate ship or a ropeway cable car, but separate entry fees apply.

Hiking season starts in July and runs through August and September. The entrance fee for Mt. Fuji’s 5th station is 2100¥ JPY per person. You can skip the 5th station if you don’t want to hike; other locations offer clear, close views of Mt. Fuji.
