The most famous ghostly story related to the Tennessee State Capitol involves its architect, William Strickland. He designed and oversaw the construction of the building but passed away before its completion in 1854. Legend has it that Strickland’s ghost haunts the capitol, possibly because he was buried in the building’s north facade, as per his request. Visitors and employees have claimed to hear footsteps echoing in empty hallways, attributed to Strickland’s spirit.

Visitors to the Tennessee State Capitol have reported an eerie and unsettling atmosphere, even during daylight hours. Some say they feel as though they are being watched or experience sudden temperature drops in certain areas of the building.

We saw ghosts!!! - Callie (sp?) clearly loves history and sharing it with visitors. We had such a fun time exploring Nashville last night with her and our teen daughter. While on the tour, someone in the group took photos and we saw the image of a female in the capital building figured to be Mrs. Polk? This morning looking back at our own photos, while zooming in, untouched this photo and iPhoto picked up something as if to pull a “sticker” that none of my other photos had. It almost looks like maybe another something is there! So cool! Would highly recommend. We have gone ghost tours in New Orleans and Salem and this was as good if not better. Thank you so much!

Ghost Tourin’ - Our ghost tour was led by Kaite, a young local Tennessee historian with a lot of cool stories, pictures, funny anecdotes, and plenty of character. All of our fellow tourers enjoyed the stories and laughs as well, from teenagers to seniors.

No Ghost- all history - This was a definite history tour. We were hoping to hear more ghost-spirit stories. Our attention span was pushed to the limit on this tour.

We took this tour on Sat.... - We took this tour on Sat. June 22nd at 8:00 and picked it since it has really good reviews. Unfortunately our tour guide lack kindness and professionalism, Spoke poorly about another tour guide and yelled “ you suck” to a car passing by, among other innapropiate comments, making our experience really poor. I would not recommend this tour.

Not what I was expecting - Not a good experience Going up and down the hill with high temperatures 3 times, do to the tour person keep saying we were not part of her 8pm group saying that we were part of other group she directed us to go somewhere else missed like 30 minutes of the tour finally we contacted someone by phone and find out that we were part of that group of the tour person who said we were not, we went up again looking for the group, the tour person said sorry for not checking my other list. She also makes some comments not related to the tour and some not appropriate throughout the tour. Not happy and not a good experience.

Poor customer service - My friends and I booked the Nashville ghost tour for 2pm because we were planning on leaving that afternoon to go back home. By the time our event was to start, a rather large strong thunderstorm and several tornado watches had spawned. We agreed to wait because we could not do a later time, but the storms lasted longer than expected. It was not safe. The manager would not refund our money and was very rude as well as at times yelling at me over the phone so loudly I had to hold my phone away from my ear. I understand the rain or shine rule, but this was more extreme than just rain and we were not going to be back to Nashville. Purchase with extreme caution!
