A treat in Nassau! - Earlier this year I was working on a cruise ship and had a friend visiting me. I've been to Nassau quite a few times and wanted to take my friend somewhere other than the usual spots! We decided to treat ourselves and visit Graycliff. I'd had a recommendation from a colleague of mine as she loved it, she loved it so much she joined us on our visit here. We had an incredible time! Yes the price point is steep but we ended up having such a good experience. Firstly, we walked through the hotel lobby, the garden and then down into the pool area, which was gorgeous, and we were greeted by our private waiter, Glinton (I'll speak more about him later) who left to get us our welcome drinks. We got super lucky with our day, nobody else came to the pool area, so we didn't have to share the space, it was like our own private sanctuary! The scenery is beautiful and you couldn't feel further away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau centre. As it is so tropical and leafy, I would advise bug spray, I got a few bites whilst there. Now, the highlight of the visit was our waiter Glinton! He was absolutely incredible, he physically couldn't have done more for us if he tried. He made sure everything was to our taste and liking, offering us our three course meal outside and setting up the table, as you'd usually eat in the restaurant. But, he saw we were having so much fun he knew we'd want to keep the vibes going out there. He was attentive and had such a great energy about him. He MADE our experience at Graycliff. Five stars for Glinton, he is a true asset to Graycliff and if I ever end up back in Nassau I would go back just to be served by him. The food was lovely, the drinks were delicious, the vibes were high, all in all a great time!

Beautiful gardens and chocolate shop - We did not stay here, but we did walk through the restaurant and gardens as well as visit the chocolate shop. Even in the rain, the gardens were beautiful. I did see that there were various tours here (through the cruise ship) that involved making chocolate, touring the cigar store and having lunch or tea here. I think it would make sense to do some research and book something on your own. Graycliff is not a bad walk from the port or it would be a short cab ride. They did not charge us to walk the grounds, and while we did, we saw the pool and several entrances to suites. It kind of reminds me of bed and breakfasts in Key West. I would look into staying here if we weren't on a cruise. I did ask about the chocolate making/tour and it was kind of pricey. I think it was $50 per person. You can just buy one (or more) of the tasty chocolates. I tried a white chocolate with ghost pepper chili filling. It was not that spicy but it was tasty. It is definitely worth checking out.

Dreadful and waste of money - This experience was akin to something out of horror movie. I have mobility issues and was advised prior to our arrival I could be accommodated. That only happened because one of the employees, Mr. Cool, was able to help me down all the steps. The place is in disrepair. The pool was dirty and clearly had not been cleaned in a while. We got there at 10 am and there was no service until 11 am. Even then, it was a joke. No one offered us water and it was very hot. The lunch was weird- mostly hot dishes and not very good. The only saving grace was Mr. Cool, and two gentlemen , Smith and Lavado. I have no idea how this can be called a five star experience. It was a mess.
