I was late to the game in booking Newgrange, and they saved the day! - It was an absolutely amazing, and personalized, adventure! Owen was fantastic to work with! He was quick with responses to every question I had via email (even the silly ones lol) and was very pleasant to be around the day of the tour. His car was super clean and he had bottles of water for each of us. He arranged absolutely everything, including the tickets (I paid him for the tickets when booking) and that made it be for me, an stress-free experience. He took us to an incredible place for lunch that had amazing food, fast service and the friendliest of people! Book Newgrange Day Tours! You won’t regret it! They made the experience hassle free. Whats not to like about that when planning your holiday?!? So glad I made the decision to book with Newgrange Day Tours! It was worth every single euro!!!

Wonderful experience - Excellent tour! Owen was very knowledgeable about each area we visited, considerate of our time and maxamized what we visited by making certain we knew where to go and what to see. Owen had purchased Newgrange entrance tickets 30 days prior to our visit and I appreciated that detail being taken care of for us. We arranged all by email and Owen arrived early at our hotel for our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. Recommend highly

Amazing day tour!! - We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Owen and highly recommend booking with him. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Boyne Vally area, Irish culture, and history. It was such a special experience to be picked up at our apartment, driven around in a fancy car, and collaborate with Owen on the day’s itinerary.

The Only Way to Tour The Boyne Valley - We spent a wonderful day with Owen as we toured the Boyne Valley. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the region and he generously shared the information with us as we were in route to the various sites and while we walked around the Irish national treasures. He told us great stories that fit with the sites and historical areas we were touring. Some of the sites we visited were The Hill of Tara, the Battle of Boyne Battle Site, Monasterboice Monastic Site, and Trim Castle. He answered all of our questions and willingly discussed fun things like Irish golf, the housing situation in Dublin, etc. while we were in route to the myriad of sites we visited. He was able to provide us recommendations for places to eat as well as a great spot to get wonderful pastries, George’s Petite Patisserie. I most highly recommend this tour. It is the BEST way to see and learn about the many significant historical sites in the Boyne Valley and Owen is a warm, friendly, terrific guide.

Great tour of prehistoric and early Christian sites - My tour of the Boyne Valley was spectacular. Owen picked me up early at my hotel in Dublin, and we headed out. On our way to the first stop, Owen explained what we passed during our 1 hour drive. We arrived at UNESCO World Heritage Site of Brú na Bóinne. Owen said lots of people don’t realize you need to book way ahead for this visit. He was not allowed to go with me so this part of the trip was with a group. The visitor center explores Neolithic culture, the landscape and the monuments located at the Brú na Bóinne. After looking at the exhibits, I crossed the river and boarded a bus. Over 3 hours, we visited the megalithic passage tombs at Newgrange and Knowth a staff guide. The massive mound, composed of thousands of tons of earth and stone, covers a central chamber accessed through a long passage. The exterior is adorned with intricately carved megalithic art, featuring spirals, geometric patterns, and animal motifs. Afterwards, I was famished, so Owen took me to a lovely bakery for soup and delicious bread, plus the best apple crumb cake. We then visited—    • Monasterboice -The Round Tower and High Crosses. This fascinating monastic site in County Louth was founded in the 5th century by Saint Buite, and the historic ruins were once an important religious center. Although the original monastery is no longer standing, the 3 Celtic High Crosses, are widely regarded as some of the finest examples of early Christian crosses, with scenes depicted of the Old Testament and unusual crucifixions.  Owen was so knowledgeable about the crosses, graves, and the history of the place. • Slane—we stopped in front of Slane Castle for a photo and saw where concerts are held then went to The Hill of Slane - Owen explainec this is the site where, according to the legend, in 433 AD Saint Patrick lit the first paschal fire in direct defiance of the pagan king Laoghaire who was celebrating the feast day on the nearby Hill of Tara, then the seat of the High King of Ireland. Instead of getting Patrick in trouble, it got an introduction so he could convert the king. • The Hill of Tara - Your final destination will be the Hill of Tara, another ancient burial mound and the inauguration site of the High Kings of Ireland. An important structure on the Hill of Tara is the Stone of Destiny, also known as the Lia Fáil. The stone is a large standing stone that is said to have been used for the coronation of the High Kings of Ireland. The tour was amazing and well worth it. I’ve been to Dublin several times before but never to the Boyne Valley. So glad that Owen introduced me to the rich history of this area.

The G.O.A.T. of Tour Guides - Owen is not a tour guide, he is THE tour guide. He was the MVP of my Ireland trip. I could listen to him talk all day, no stops or attractions necessary. The second you step into his car, you can immediately see he's a kind, family man with a love of Irish history. He masterfully tailored the tour to our family's needs and interests; He shifted between providing detailed information for history lovers, and giving broader, more general information for those of us who were learning about Irish history for the first time. This is one of the many ways Owen makes each of his private tours special for his guests. He took us to two great cafes in the Irish countryside, and recommended an excellent steakhouse back in Dublin for dinner (the cheesecake was just as good as he said it would be. Owen always has your back!). We visited a couple of megalithic sites; and were even able to fit in Trim Castle and the Hill of Slane. Both were "must-do"s on my bucket list, and we wouldn't have gotten to them on our short trip without his help. Thank you so much Owen! - Tara

World’s Best Historic Adventure ! - Owen was a magnificent guide full of unique knowledge and wit! We’re from the US and It was our first trip to Ireland. We have some Irish family ties and wanted to see special sites like The Hill of Tara, Newgrange and Trim Castle. All the group tours were booked up but Irish luck was with us when Owen and his private tour granted our request to take us around with a few days notice. Owen was like a warm, witty podcaster, full of terrific knowledge of Irish history. My daughter is a history major from a top notch school who’s studied history abroad and she was astounded with his accuracy and the new information he provided to all of us. We highly recommend Owen and hope we someday we get to tour with him again ! We plan to return !! Thank you Owen for everything - including the delicious scone we stopped for in the nearby village ! It’s was a treat we will remember.
