Excellent Private Tour Guide - My wife and I toured the Boyne Valley with Michael, and it was the highlight of our trip to Ireland! We would rate him as 5+ stars for sure - first class - look forward to taking another tour with him next time we travel to Ireland. We were able to do and see so much more with Michael as our guide. His attention to detail was apparent even before we arrived. Several emails and text messages prior to our arrival made us feel like we would be well taken care of - and we were! He is extremely knowledgeable of the Boyne Valley history as well other aspects of Irelands history. Very pleasant to talk to during the drive to the tour locations as well.

Tour for all generations of a family - Michael Fox picked us up for an all day tour of the Boyne Valley. Our party consisted of myself and 18 year old grandson. Michael was very personable and knowledgeable of the area. He took us to see Fourknocks which is like New Grange but not as commercialized. We saw Kells High Crosses in a cemetery, Old Mellifont Abbey, Battle of the Boyne, Hill of Tara and the grounds of Trim Castle. We also had a delicious lunch and stopped at Michael’s home and met his wife, Bernadette. Michael’s hospitality, extensive knowledge and enthusiasm made the day memorable for us both. Highly recommend this special adventure for all ages.

Outstanding tour by Michael Fox. He was amazing. - The Irish history lesson, beautiful views of Celtic crosses, historical monuments, lunch, Newgrange and Knowth, left my sisters and I with a wonderful first day experience in Ireland. Michael was top-notch and made us feel like we were family during our experience. I would highly recommend his tour.

Totally worth it! - Michael was a kind and thoughtful guide. We learned so much about the local wildlife, plants, and trees through casual conversation. The Newgrange experience was awe-inspiring. Especially loved that he took us to an extra spot because we were curious about Irish Yews. Easily the highlight of our 8 days in Dublin.

Interesting tour with knowledgeable and friendly guide - We spent a full day with Michael visiting the ancient sites in the Boyne Valley. He is a walking encyclopedia (did I just date myself?) and covered a wide range of topics across all periods of Irish history. He is friendly and kept us engaged. He also did the typical things you expect such as communicating before our departure from home, collecting us on time at our accommodation in a clean, comfortable car, and adapting the tour to our interests. We stayed at a B&B in the valley, avoiding travel from Dublin and giving us more time to explore. There is much to see and do in this historic area. We could have easily extended our visit. We recommend Boyne Valley Tours for your holiday in Ireland’s ancient east.

Best day of our trip! - Michael Fox of Boyne Valley Tours is an amazing guide and cultivated an experience that we'll never forget! In 8 hours we were able to see multiple neolithic sites including New Grange, Lia Fail, monasteries and historic graveyards. Michael was attentive to our schedule and collaborated easily with us so we got to see the sites meaningful to us, as well as sites we would have never known existed. We highly recommend taking a personal tour as it made our trip to Ireland complete.

Worth it in every way! - Of you are questioning if it’s worth it to book a private tour with them, it’s so worth it!!!! My husband and I booked this private tour while we were still in Ireland. We had literally ended a week long tour in a bus with 44 people. While it was great it was quick and we didn’t see any thing north of Dublin. We wanted to see more old castles and passage tombs. It was so worth it. Not only was Michael prompt and professional, but very accommodating. First, since we booked this somewhat last minute, Newgrange was sold out. Michael took us to Four Knocks. To me this was even better! Was the same concept passage tomb as Newgrange and it was just us there to really look and take it all in. Felt like a vip experience. We had booked a whiskey distillery tour at Slane castle and he worked around the time we booked to figure out a good itinerary. We asked if he knew of any local crafters stores or markets near by. We wanted to purchase handmade local items since we say a lot of the generic tourist stores with commercial Ireland gifts. He took us to Alice’s. It was so awesome to meet her and see the wonderful items in her shop from herself and other local crafters. Michael’s own wife, Bernie, is a talented artist and has items there. Alice has a farm and one of her sheep happen to have a given birth that morning. She let me hold a baby lamb. It was so cool. Michael walked with us up to all the sites and gave us info and history on them. Every location site we went the staff knew Michael and would greet him. Added to the vip experience lol. When it came time for lunch we ate at the Bective Tea Rooms that Michael mentioned. It was so good and beautiful. At locations, he would also take our photo when asked and even sometimes would ask if we wanted our photo. With it being me and my husband alone, this was nice to get some none selfie good photos of us together. If you are like us and love bang for your buck you will get it! We were honestly nervous at first if spending the money for one day was a smart choice. After Michael returned us to our Dublin hotel, we both were smiling ear to ear about how that was so awesome and worth it. Thanks again Michael for the experiences!

Though provoking - My daughter and I had a wonderful day. Michael Fox was so informative and showed us so much. It was a power full day and it gave it us a new sense of pride in our Irish heritage. The best thing to finish off our 4 1/2 week holiday.

Great Day Spent Outside of Dublin - My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Michael Fox for a full day tour that was the highlight of our trip to Dublin. I was looking for something more than the 'city' tours and sites, and this tour was perfect. Michael was knowledgable and passionate about the area and willing (even encouraged) modifying the tour to fit our interests. I would absolutely recommend Michael and Boyne Valley Tours.
