As I stepped off the plane in Sri Lanka, the warm tropical air enveloped me, and I was immediately greeted by Mahesh, our private driver for the week. Mahesh’s insights into the temple’s history and the annual religious festival held in February added depth to our visit.

Our exploration of Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage continued at the Colombo National Museum, where we marveled at the extensive exhibits showcasing the island’s history. Mahesh’s ability to weave stories around the artifacts made the experience even more enriching.

Embracing Nature and Adventure

Leaving the city behind, we ventured into the lush landscapes of Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. The ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya was a highlight, with its breathtaking views and historical significance.
