Kayak experience - I enjoyed my kayak photo shoot. Everyone was extremely helpful. O appreciated the assistance with poses because I am awkward when posing for pictures.

The team was friendly, accommodating, and very affirming during the shoot. This is a MUST do experience with this vendor.

Obsessed with it… - I am low-key obsessed with my photos. They did such an amazing job with posing tips and the pictures are top-tier. we were initially supposed to go to Montego Bay, but we ended up going to Negril the ocean water were stunning!

Everything was handled online and automated, with clear instructions provided during booking. There were no issues there, although there were no live-person confirmations. However, my photographer arrived late, and there was no communication beforehand unless I initiated it. Once she arrived, we briefly discussed the water and weather conditions, which are critical as they change rapidly and significantly impact the shoot. Shortly after, the equipment arrived with an assistant. Following about 45 minutes of discussion and preparation, we headed out, only for the rain to start, forcing us to postpone. I returned about an hour later, and we finally got started. When the shoot resumed, things moved quickly. The assistant provided posing instructions, and we got to work. Despite getting wet from some waves, I was happy with the process and eager to see the results. The photos were excellent and were transferred to me immediately without issue. The Issue with the Assistant Here’s where things took a turn. The assistant, Deborah (from the UK), who mentioned she was also a professional photographer, offered to take photos of me and my group at our resort for an hourly rate. I agreed and specified that we could select a few photos together for her marketing purposes. She showed up for the shoot, and we completed the session in about an hour. I paid her as agreed and even offered to share a finished photo with the hotel, recommending her services. However, while I was briefly changing, she started mingling with my group around the resort. After she left, she sent a gallery of photos for my review. Shortly after, she changed her approach. She refused to release the photos unless I agreed to let her use a wide selection of them for her business. When I offered to pay her according to her stated “standard booking prices” or any reasonable fee, she refused. Instead, she essentially held the photos hostage to force me into giving her broader rights to use my image for her business. This behavior was extremely shady and unethical. Concerns with Clear Kayak When I reached out to Clear Kayak to address the incident, I was shocked by their response. They admitted they didn’t know much about the assistant—they hadn’t done a background check, didn’t even know her last name, and said she’d only been working there for a few weeks. She was paid in cash, and they appeared to have no formal vetting process. While the photos I received from Clear Kayak were great and I think the business has potential, this lack of oversight is concerning. I cannot recommend a company that fails to properly vet the people they allow to represent them. Unfortunately, I have had to escalate the matter to seek a resolution. #BuyerBeware
