Highlights
  • Cairo - Private Guided Cairo Layover tours visit Giza Pyramids from Cairo airport. The tour begins with a pickup from Cairo airport by our expert tour guide, who will be waiting for you outside the terminal holding a sign with your name. You will then be transferred in private.

  • Giza Plateau - Cairo Layover tour to Giza Pyramids starts and ends at Cairo airport. The tour can start and end at any time from 7 am to 1 pm. Once you exit the terminal at Cairo airport, our tour guide will greet you with a sign displaying your name and transfer you to Giza City in a private, latest model vehicle. Before reaching Giza City, our tour guide will provide a comprehensive background about Egypt in general. Upon arrival in Giza City, you will visit the Giza Pyramids, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Begin your visit with the Great Pyramid, built by King Cheops, also known as Khufu in Arabic. Our guide will explain the historical background of ancient Egypt and why the pyramids were built.

  • Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been found, but the site has not been excavated. The valley temple was connected to a causeway, which was largely destroyed when the village was constructed.

  • Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, some of which were found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860. Others were discovered during successive excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.

  • Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also yielded several statues of Menkaure.

  • Great Sphinx - Conclude your layover day tour with a visit to the Sphinx, located near the Valley Temple. The Sphinx is the oldest and largest in Egypt, featuring the body of a lion and the head of a human, symbolizing power and intellect. The face of the Sphinx is a portrait of Khafre, who built the middle pyramid of Giza.

Camel rides and entry inside any of the pyramids can be arranged for an additional charge.

After your visit, you will be transferred back to Cairo airport.

Was picked up at the... - Was picked up at the airport by my guide Essam Ali and drive Hesham. With about 8 hours left for my onward flight, this layover tour was perfect to visit the Giza Necropolis. Essam was very knowledgeable and an enthusiastic guide. Both Essam and Hesham were very friendly and accommodating to my requests throughout the way. I was also taken on shopping stops for papyrus and perfume. Did not know about the level of haggling expected in Egypt and am pretty sure I overpaid at both places, but the tour was pretty great!

Unforgettable experience - Mohamed did a great job. Nothing to complain about. The once life time experience was amazing. If I come to Egypt again, I will definitely try the company again.

Professional, Friendly and knowledgable tour with Ahmed Tonsi and Victor - I booked a one day tour of Luxor through Emo Tours. We were picked up at the airport by our guide Victor and the driver and taken to visit The valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and Karnak Temple when we arrived back at Luxor. The guide Victor was extremely knowledgeable. After our visit we decided to book an additional tour of Cairo with Emo Tours as well. Once again we were picked up punctually at the Cairo airport and were off on our tour. Ahmed Tonsi was our guide and imparted his local knowledge of Cairo, Giza, Pyramids and the Sphinx. We then dined in an excellent local restaurant and continued our tour of Cairo. Ahmed was humorous and informative. Special kudos to our driver in Cairo Mr Mussika. If you have been to Cairo you will know that driving is an adventure. I highly recommend Emo Tours for any booking in Egypt.

Great Layover Tour - I only had a 7-hour layover in the evening after most sights in Cairo were closed, but Ahmed was waiting for me at the airport and I got to see the 8:00PM sound and light show at the Pyramids, and we had a brief stop at the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Ahmed had a lot of interesting information about Cairo, and when I return for a longer stay in the future I will certainly use his services again for a more extensive tour.
