- Purana Qila - This monument was built by Emperor Humayun in 1530s over the second city of Delhi known as ‘Dina-Panah’ under the Mughal Empire. Explore the Bada Darwaza and the stunning display of Mughal gradeur as well as the Indo-Islamic influence in the architecture. From here we will take you to another fascinating building Sher Mandal, located at the highest point of Delhi’s Old Fort known as Purana Qila, was reportedly built by Mughal emperor Humayun as an astronomical library and pleasure tower. Later, take a stroll inside the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque, which was built under the Sur dynasty by Afghan emperor Sher Shah Suri in 1541 after capturing the Fort. The mosque is made of white marble and red sandstone, which are placed and contrasted in an unusual but remarkable symmetry. There are other monuments as well including an ancient Stepwell and a medieval Hammam(Bath House). The remaining splendid gates are also there including the Talaqi Darwaza and Humayun Darwaza.
