Humayun’s Tomb - The second Mughal emperor, Humayun, passed away in 1556, and his widow, Hamida Banu Begam, also known as Haji Begam, began constructing his tomb in 1569, fourteen years after his death. It is the first distinct example of Mughal architecture, influenced by Persian design. Humayun, during his exile, learned Persian architectural principles and likely planned the tomb, although no records confirm this.

The main entrance, “Tripolia,” has eight marble porticos, where the Maharanas were weighed in gold, which was then distributed among the people.
