Delhi - Immerse yourself in old and new Delhi

Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid) - Our first stop is the famous Friday Mosque in old Delhi, not far from the Chandni Chowk Area and the Red Fort. The Friday Mosque is the largest in India and one of the largest in the world. Enter the large courtyard and admire the mosque from the outside. The light and the still quiet mosque in the morning allow beautiful photos. Your guide will be happy to show you the best perspectives. He then accompanies you to the prayer rooms for men and women under huge vaults, where you can watch the faithful prayerfully.

Chandni Chowk - Take a few steps with your travel companion to experience the hustle and bustle up close. Our car is always nearby when you have enough.

Red Fort - We consider a photo stop

Raj Ghat - We visit the beautiful well-kept park on the Raj Ghat with the memorial plaque for Gandhi, which was cremated on the Raj Ghat. Here we can enjoy the peace, the green and the flowers for a moment.

India Gate - The All India War Memorial (India Gate) was built in 1921 and is a 42-meter-high triumphal arch modeled on the Arc d’Triomphe in Paris. It honors soldiers from British India who died in the First World War. Depending on traffic and wishes, we make a short photo stop or drive around the India Gate.

Rajpath Area - From the India Gate we get to the Presidential Palace via the Raj Path. The drive by car already gives us an impression of the enormous size of this building complex.

Rashtrapati Bhavan - The Indian President’s official residence on Raisina Hill was built from 1921-1929 by British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker as part of the move of the government seat from Calcutta to Delhi. The building combines elements of the Mughal style such as chatri, domes, colors and reliefs (with lotus flowers and elephants) with classic British colonial architecture. The Ministry of Finance, Interior and Foreign Affairs are located here. The palace is also used for representational purposes on the occasion of state visits. We stop for a detailed look up close to admire details and on the 145 m high Jaipur column between the entrance gates. It is crowned by a glass star on a lotus flower. The Mughal Gardens belonging to the palace can only be visited for a few days in winter.

Birla Mandir Temple (Lakshmi Narayan) - Admire this magnificent temple, founded by industrialist Birla in 1938, and dedicated to Vishnu (Narayan) and his wife Laxmi.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib - This place is the most important Sikh sanctuary next to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Take your time to enjoy this beautiful temple with its golden dome. We look into the large kitchen, where volunteers prepare meals for up to 10,000 people in need, which they eat in a large hall.

Humayun’s Tomb - Optionally we visit this beautiful red sandstone and white marble building, which is the tomb of Humayun (built by his widow Begum) and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Delhi to Agra

Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah - If we arrive in Agra in time, we will visit this beautiful memorial right on the banks of the Yamuna River. The Empress Noor Jahan had it built in memory of her father Mirza Ghias Beg from 1623-28. The completely made of white marble and richly decorated tomb is a model for the Taj Mahal and is often referred to as the Mini Taj.

Taj Mahal - Taj Mahal - who hasn’t heard of it or seen pictures? But seeing this “monument to love” with your own eyes is a very special experience. The majestic white marble structure was built by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1631. It took 17 years for 220,000 workers and 1,000 elephants to build this magnificent mausoleum. The sight of the Taj Mahal over the gardens and water systems with its domes and the flanking minarets is simply unforgettable. Take a leisurely stroll through the extensive grounds, circle the building to admire all the facades and look out over the Yamuna River. Admire the beautiful, detailed decorations and marquetry inside. Enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Taj Mahal and admire the rising moon.

Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind - Extensive photo stop for this beautiful building, actually “only” a privacy screen for the court ladies, who could watch the action on the street from here in the shade with cooling winds without being seen. A great sight. End the day in Jaipur with a stroll through the market around the Hawa Mahal, and maybe visit the beautiful historical cinema in the city center (optional).

Amber Palace & return to Delhi

Amber Palace - After breakfast we make our way to Amber Fort with its beautiful palace inside. You can either drive up to the fort by car (included) or you can travel traditionally on the back of an elephant (optional), a very special way of arriving at the Amber Fort and getting out on the gallery specially designed for elephants. The elephants are beautifully painted and only work in the mornings. Visit the red sandstone and marble palace, which stretches over four floors with its many rooms, courtyards and colonnades. Take your time to discover beautiful details such as marquetry, decorations, mirror motifs and paintings. Don’t forget to admire the beautiful Mugahl garden, take a look at the surrounding landscape and the lake below the fort. Jaigarh Fort is located above Amber Fort. After the visit you can try a chai or a small snack opposite the fort (optional) before we make our way back to Delhi. From there you can continue your route or start the return journey.
