Delhi – Chandigarh – Manali | 560 KMS | 12-13 hours (Ex Delhi or Chandigarh or Bhuntar) (580 km)
New Delhi - On the first day of your trip, board a Volvo bus to Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh. It will be an overnight journey, so ensure you are well-prepared.
Manali Exploration
Manali - On the first day, arrive in Manali either by Volvo bus or a hired cab. At the Manali bus stand, you will meet the tour guide from Motorbike Expeditions. The guide will take you to your respective hotels, where you can rest for a few hours. After a short nap, the guide will introduce you to your motorbikes. The arrival day in Manali is dedicated to acclimatizing to the high-altitude climate and understanding the rugged terrain of the Himalayas while riding. This day will help you connect with the bikes, which will be your partners for the next 10 days. We will cover all the major sightseeing points around Manali on this day, and later in the evening, after dinner, the day comes to an end.
Manali to Dharamshala
Dharamshala - After breakfast, we will head towards the famous hill station Dharamshala in the Dhauladhar ranges. This place is also known as the Little Lhasa of India, as it is home to the Buddhist Dharma guru Dalai Lama. Inspired by flawless Tibetan architecture and intricate designs, this place is home to some of the world’s most beautiful monasteries, located about 6 hours east of Manali. Later in the evening, we will ride towards McLeod Ganj, a place known for its cafes and nightlife, which is just 2 km from Dharamshala. The journey on this day will be pleasant and beautiful as most of the journey will be on metaled roads and through countryside villages. In McLeod Ganj, after exploring the nightlife, we can check into our hotels and enjoy the city view. These places are among the most beautiful in Himachal Pradesh, so imagine how beautiful your journey will be. Shoja is about 108 km from Manali, and our team from Motorbike Expeditions will be just behind you in case any help is required. After reaching Shoja, we will check into our homestays, where local food along with a bonfire will be served to all members of the expedition.
Dharamshala to Dalhousie
Dalhousie - On day 4, after having a traditional Pahadi breakfast, we will leave for our next destination, Dalhousie. This hill station is named after Lord Dalhousie, the British Governor-General in India from 1848 to 1856. Much of our time on this day will be spent riding northwards towards the inner summits of the Himalayas through pastoral landscapes and magical fairy-tale villages. The entire journey of 5-6 hours from Dharamshala is breathtaking and will surely become part of your eternal memories. On this day, we will also cross the famous village of Khajjiar, which is also referred to as the Mini Switzerland of India. This place is so picturesque that one has to rub their eyes to believe it actually exists. Khajjiar also offers adventure sports like zorbing and paragliding to satisfy one’s adventure bug. We will also explore the small Himalayan town of Dalhousie, known for its British architecture and churches dating back 200-300 years. This small town is surrounded by dense deodar trees with a small mall road to walk on. At the end of the day, after exploring the town, we will check into our hotels and gather for a bonfire session, where every rider will share their memories of the day. You might wonder what kind of session this is, but we have been doing this session for the past 3 years on every tour, whether it is the Leh Ladakh tour or the famous Spiti tour.
Dalhousie to Bairagarh
Bairagarh to Killar
Killar - Kishtwar - Killar
Killar to Keylong via Pangi
Keylong to Manali
Manali - On the ninth day of our journey, we will head back towards Manali from Keylong. This 9th-day journey will be pleasant and lovely until Khoksar, which is located 80 km from Keylong. On the way to Khoksar, we will cross Tandi, a sacred place for the Hindu religion as it is the Sangam point for the rivers Chandra and Bhaga. We will stop here for a while to see the magnificent convergence of these two sacred rivers. After spending some quality time there, we will head towards Khoksar, a little tribal village known for its famous delicacy called Meat Chawal. This delicacy will help rejuvenate our tired bodies so that we can conquer the mighty Rohtang Pass. The journey from Khoksar to Manali will be the last tough part of our Sach Pass motorbike trip. Rohtang Pass is a connecting link between the Kullu and Lahaul Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an elevation of 14,000 feet above sea level, this pass is regarded as one of the most beautiful motorable mountain passes in India. It is advised not to spend more than 10 minutes at the Rohtang top due to the lack of oxygen, so we will only stop here to take a few pictures. The last highlight of the Sach Pass motorbike trip is the ride down from Rohtang La. The first view you will witness is the number of waterfalls originating from the glaciers in the Himalayas, situated amidst large and wide valleys. The entire view will be so breathtaking and magnificent that you will have to rub your eyes a thousand times to believe it actually exists. Lush green meadows and the meandering Beas River with its pristine blue color will make you a complete Viragi (a wanderer who travels without reason). Later in the evening, we will reach our final destination, Manali, where a small dinner accompanied by a bonfire and local folk dance will be presented to our fellow travelers as a gesture of love. Here we will sing, dance, enjoy our drinks, and try to remember the sweet memories we created during this 10-day bike trip.
Manali to Delhi
New Delhi - On the final day of our trip, we will greet all our fellow riders and bid them farewell with best wishes for life, hoping to meet them again soon. The overnight journey of 12 hours will finally drop you in the nation’s capital, Delhi, from where you can continue your journey back home. If you are planning a trip to Sach Pass, this itinerary is undoubtedly the best you can find online, as we have been running tours on the same plan for the past 3-4 years.
