Highlights
  • Jamali Kamali Tomb and Mosque - Between 0800-0900hrs, a personal guide will immerse you in the history and geography of the heritage ruins of Mehrauli, providing a brief history of the tour. We will then proceed to the ruins of the “Mehrauli Archaeological Park.” This tour will introduce you to the fascinating layers of Delhi’s history, delving through centuries of the capital’s past and revealing the stories behind its ancient monuments. JAMALI KAMALI MOSQUE: The tomb belonged to a saint with a large following. Visitors tend to avoid this place in the late evenings as it is considered haunted, with ghost stories circulating about it.
  • Tomb of Balban - METCALF CANOPY: Perched on the peak of a mound stands a canopy built in the 1850s by Charles Metcalfe as a ‘folly.’ The folly is a new building designed to look old and to be viewed in a picturesque landscape. The hexagonal structure is unremarkable.
  • Rajon Ki Baoli - RAJON KEE BAOLI: This baoli is named Rajon ki Baoli after the masons who resided in the chambers. The baoli features a vertical shaft for drawing water and hollow passageways. It is also considered one of the most haunted places in Delhi at night.

Mr Singh was very... - Mr Singh was very thorough and detailed with the historical details provided on the tour. He was willing to engage in productive debate over certain narratives, and we had a lot of fun chatting with him as we walked around the Mehrauli park. This is a must-see spot if you want to get a sense of history of Delhi as the site of several political capitals, with the Mehruali area being among the first. At the end of the tour, Mr Singh even made sure we got a rickshaw back to our destination. Note: If you are on a foreign passport, entrance tickets are much more expensive and not covered by the tour tickets.

Haunted historic ruins also a perfect escape from the bustling city - A visit to the Mehrauli Archaeological Park was absolutely fascinating! The park is a treasure trove of historical sites and ancient ruins. As I explored the park, I was in awe of the rich history and architectural beauty that surrounded me. From getting the fabulous views of the majestic Qutub Minar from a distance, to the intricate carvings of the Tomb of Balban, every corner had something unique to offer. The park also offers a serene and peaceful environment, making it a perfect escape from the bustling city. If you're a history enthusiast or simply love exploring hidden gems, I highly recommend visiting Mehrauli Archaeological Park. The guide was an encyclopeia of history. You won't be disappointed!

surprisingly calm and creepy heritage - surprisingly calm and creepy jungle right behind qutub minar. No typical hustle bustle of delhi except few locals inside.....many ancient ruins are so rustic that they are simply buried under the soil and covered by thick forest
