Banke Bihari Temple - The Bankey Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is one of the holiest and most famous temples dedicated to Krishna in India. Shri Swami Haridas revealed the idol of Bankey Bihari Ji in Nidhivan. The idol, which is much older, was worshipped in Nidhivan until 1863. The temple was constructed in 1864 with contributions from Goswamis, who then transferred the idol to this temple. “Bankey” means “bent at three places,” and “Bihari” means “supreme enjoyer.” Bankey Bihari Ji is worshipped and cared for as a child. Each festival is celebrated uniquely and distinctively at the Bankey Bihari Temple. Visitors often feel an eternal bliss and calm upon entering the temple, forgetting all their miseries. Upon meeting Thakur Ji, devotees often dedicate themselves to him, and the kind-hearted Thakur Ji alleviates their problems and blesses them with his divine grace.
