This verdant historical oasis is snugly tucked between the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun’s Tomb (Above) on its southern side and the ancient Purana Qila (Below) on its northern side. The well-preserved ruins, built in the early stages of the Mughal period of the 16th Century, are a sight to behold. In the early 20th century, a nursery was established alongside these ruins with the purpose of cultivating trees and other plants destined for the newly established capital city. This nursery also served as a testing ground for various species sourced from different regions in India and overseas, selecting only those that could withstand Delhi’s tough climatic conditions.
