Must-do Tour - Phenomenal tour. Really centered the slave experience and not the slaveholders. There are not enough tours like this. I learned so much. It was about an hour long.

Very Interesting!! - Our tour guide was amazing and made this very interesting even for my two teenage daughters ages 14 and 17. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Nola. We had the male tour guide and he was fantastic! The history was awesome as well. Walking around touring this house somehow the way that he explains everything you can picture it all happening as you walk through the house room by room. Highly recommend this especially if you're there a short time and just do not have the time to see do a plantation tour. Urban slavery is just as interesting yet devastating at the same time that it took place at all anywhere. I learned something new because I didn't know about urban slavery before this trip to NOLA. Thank you for the great history lesson!

It is what it is and it's all good - Great property to tour and yes, the tour obviously has a certain focus/bias against the families that happened to live in different times, but it wasn't over the top even for a Southern sympathizer like myself. I learned some things and appreciated what they had to share even knowing there's a lot more to this story and the overarching theme. Go into everything with an open mind, ask questions, do your research and make time for things that move you. History is alive for everyone and it's not a one stop shop. The tour only took an hour or so, so the only drawback may be if someone can't handle the weather but you're not walking around much and only going up one flight of stairs and you don't even have to do that. The gift shop has some things and this was a perfect stop for us after taking in the Jazz Mass at Our Lady of Guadelupe down the street. We then went a few feet to Napoleon's House to have some good food and drink.

Good tour - Enjoyed this 45 minute tour of the house and courtyard. Very interesting to hear about the enslaved being used in urban areas. Guide really knew a lot and was friendly. The only downside was we felt it was a bit rushed
