Highlights
  • Wild Louisiana Launch - You can be picked up at the historic St. Roch Market right outside of the French Quarter or drive yourself the short 30 min drive to the tour location. The group will convene at the trip starting point and an introductory lecture on kayaking the swamp will be given. You will then enter your kayak and follow your guide through the scenic Manchac Swamp, a slow-moving bayou that once was home to the destroyed logging ghost town of Ruddock, LA and served as a passage way for historic New Orleans explorers; Iberville, Biennville, and more.

Stops will be made along the way and your guide will teach you about the swamp’s history and wildlife. The tour duration is anywhere from 2-3hrs depending on the groups kayaking experience. Once you return to the launch site you will join the rest of the group to be transported back to the city. If you drive out yourself you can depart as soon as you return to the launch site.

Great kayak tour - Great tour with Josh and Zack! We saw alligators and many birds. So much pleasure getting deeper into the bayou and start hearing all the noises! Very pleasing experience.

Best Tour of the Swamp - I'm a professional photographer, and I went out on the Photo Tour at sunset. I didn't expect to love it so much. We saw almost no other boats, but incredible nature, from rare birds to alligators. Our captain, Josh, was really knowledgable and friendly. He took us to some really cool spots and I got the shots I needed. Would absolutely do this again

It’s a blast - It was just my partner and I, one other couple, and our guide, Al, on this trip and it was perfect! I know Al said the gators weren’t being as friendly as they normally are, but we still saw plenty little eyes watching us. We also chose this tour because we know the big boats are loud and spook them away, and we honestly just want the animals to be happy and healthy. Al knew just about everything about being out there - he named every fish, plant, bird, and bug we saw. He told us what plants were invasive, and which ones the Native American’s have been using for centuries. He pointed out a camouflaged owl hidden in a tree, and a huge osprey nest high up in the branches. He made sure we saw every gator we possibly could. He was a pleasure driving to and from the swamp with as well. The swamp itself is absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend described it as being on another planet. It was serene with bird calls and bug chirps all around you. Definitely bring a big hat for the sun, lots of water (especially if your tour’s in the middle of the day), and bug spray! Only thing I will say is I would not do this tour if you are not already fairly athletic. I’m pretty active and my arm’s were burning by the end of the trip. Still… highly recommend!!
