Antebellum Homes - The lunch at Oak Alley was really good and the blackberry julep was amazing. I loved the homes, the grounds, especially the oak trees. The Laura Plantation was not as impressive but the tour guide did a good job. Karen, our driver was so nice even when 2 people were 30 minutes late getting to the bus.

Historically Relevant - It was a very interesting visit for a history nerd. I definitely would do it again and bring my mom because she would love it as well.

Nicely guided tour - Lovely trip out to the plantations if you prefer no commentary from your bus driver. For some reason our pickup and drop off locations were clear across the French quarter. As we drove along picking up others we realized we could have been picked up much closer to our hotel. Once we arrived at Laura we were given instructions from a gentleman that came onto the bus. The guided tour through Laura was good but we felt very rushed. Not a lot of time for photos or closer examination. I would still do it but do not expect a leisurely tour. Had more time at Oak Alley which was very appreciated.

Definetly do Laura. Oak Alley is OK - Signed up for just the Oak Alley but ended up doing both Laura and Oak Alley and thank God for that... actually thanking our bus driver Karen for the strong recommendation of the fully guided tour of Laura. It was so informative and our guide was a history teacher (Lindie) absolutely put the next guide at Oak Alley to shame. Nothing against that lovely lady, just it was very robotic. Definitely fo both. Oak Alley is picturesque and worth a visit even if most of it is self guided (only offers a house tour and the rest you are on your own)

Fun tour! - Transportation was easy breezy with BamBam - comfortable ride with info along the way. Capt Jacob did a great job telling us all local info stopping to see birds and alligators of all sizes. It was a covered boat with about 20 passengers.

Wonderful Day full of history - Pam at Laura Plantation and Jannelle at Oak Valley gave great tours. Our driver Dee was also very informative and a safe driver. Really enjoyed the trip.

Great experience at two plantations - Wonderful contrast of the two kinds of plantations, creole and white European. Both properties are well-maintained, and our guides were informative, although there were some important points that I knew that they never mentioned. There is a nice restaurant and café at Oak Alley for lunch.

Two Plantations in One Day - We went on the combined Oak Alley and Laura Plantation tour during our stay in New Orleans. Pick up was between 9.30 - 10.00am, about 1km from where we were staying. That all went smoothly and the bus ride was quite relaxed. Our driver gave us some insights into various landmarks, as we headed to Laura plantation. Some on the bus were doing the half day Oak Alley tour, so we were dropped off first. The tour of the plantations was both interesting and informative. The guides certainly know their subject matter, atlhough I felt that it was very scripted, and there was not a lot of two way interaction. It was almost like they had learnt a script, and were not going to deviat from it. Nevertheless we did learn a lot about the history of these places. I think it is enough to just visit one plantation, as there are similarities with both properties. After the tour of the Oak Alley house, we wandered around outside, really just killing time unti the tour bus picked us up. Pick up was at 3.30pm, but realistically could have been brought forward.

Good tour but it needs to incorporate a historical type of a lunch stop. - The Laura Plantation tour gave an in-depth understanding of darkest period of our country, the slave trade. The Oak Alley tour was not as informative and was very short. The mansion and the oaks are beautiful but the tour should include the slave housing, the shackles. Both Plantations can employ more non-whites in higher positions. Ot was a long day bit it did not include a lunch stop.
