A Must Do! - I'm in town for a conference and decided to book this on a whim - I am SO glad that I did! You meet at a bar next door first (Le CaBARet), which was nice because you can begin mingling with other attendees. Thankfully I saw on a review that the name had recently changed from Grand Pre, but I think some of the group was a bit confused. Then, Mr. Gregory gathers everyone and you go directly next door. It's family style seating, and we had a really good group, so it worked well. There were people from all over and one couple was doing it for a second time because they had loved it so much! The food is amazing, and Mr. Gregory gives background information on all of the dishes, which was really cool. He is incredibly friendly and inviting! The first few items are tasting portion (and delicious), but the shrimp boil is plentiful (we couldn't finish)! The performers were absolute stars! It was such a cool show, and they were also super friendly. Overall, it was a great time and I'm so glad I did it! It was my first night in New Orleans, and given that I'm traveling solo, it was a great way to meet people and it was a really unique experience - basically a dinner party with strangers. It felt very different from your typical tourist "excursion." I really can't recommend it enough.

New Orleans cultural night out - We all met at the bar right next to Mr Gregory’s home where the shrimp boil was held. The bars named changed to the cabaret two weeks ago so the directions were slightly confusing. Right at 6:50 Mr Gregory came out and took all our names and brought us inside, we had blue crab and alligator sausage appetizers which were amazing. Larry the only server was wonderful, funny and accommodating. Offered us sodas and checking to make sure we were having a good time as he caught my husband reading the news print set out for our shrimp. He wanted to make sure we were having a good time. And we were. Mr Gregory explained all the food, its history and the cultural of New Orleans. Then came all the shrimp we could eat , more alligator sausage and corn. Then Mr Gregory served us some original king cake. We had a short time in New Orleans and this was really a full experience for us as the music provided made us feel like not only did we experience the food, stories but the music as well. We would definitely come back to this again.

Really Good, Could Use a Couple Tweaks - A truly unique experience, with great food and music. Overall, this was excellent, but our group had a couple suggestions: The name of the bar where we met wasn't accurate, so we got a bit lost. The shrimp boil could have benefitted from corn and potatoes. It was just shrimp and sausage (so the event photo is inaccurate). Also, the chef made too much of a point of the event's limited length. He kicked us out after 1 hour and 15 minutes, not even the full 90 minutes. Having said that, the food was delicious and the singer Amber was fantastic. Don't forget to BYOB.

A New Orleans Family Dinner for Two (plus friends!) - An intimate family meal for 30 or so people warmly welcomed by our host & cook, Greg. He presented a variety of taster plates while giving us a brief history & description of each. Certainly provided a taste of authentic New Orleans! We were also entertained by the Delta Revues, a great local jazz band.

Shrimp boil - Not happy that the host canceled and we did not know until after we waited 25 minutes. We waited at the pick up location at the bar next door. The bartenders there find out for us.
