An Exceptional Black History Tour of New Orleans — Malika is the Bomb.Com!! - My girlfriend and I were looking for a black-led, black history tour of New Orleans on our recent visit. We found Anansi’s Daughters via Google and TripAdvisor. What good fortune!! Malika is an exceptional guide and a veritable fountain of knowledge about the history and culture of New Orleans. She radiates passion and joy as she shares colorful, nuanced, multi-dimensional stories drawn from her own lineage as well as her extensive scholarship about topics that span a wide spectrum that includes New Orleans Jazz, African and Black Indian peoples, Vodou, Hoodoo, Ifa, and more. We could have spent many more enthralled hours in her presence and would only have scratched the surface of what she has to share. Best part is that she never tells the history the same way twice so even if you repeat rhetoric tour, you’ll learn new things and be glad you did!

Great Tour! - Even through the pouring down rain, this tour was truly amazing. We met Malika at the park, and she took us through some amazing statues with historical background. It was truly an eye-opening experience. She is very well-prepared to answer any questions, and took the time to explain what each statue represented. New Orleans is rich in history and she provided some facts that I didn't even know. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!

As both a Vodou High Priestess and an academic, you get the best of all worlds. Do yourself a favour and book this tour.

Best Local History Tour - This was by far the most enjoyable and informative of the many tours I have taken in New Orleans. Malika really knows her local history and is a great story-teller. I would recommend to anyone who wants to more than scratch the surface and find out how people really lived in this fascinating city.
