Moments in Time - This was a self guided tour. We saw some amazing things. Big house, slave quarters, memorials, but most vivid takeaway was the spirits of 400yrs still exists there. Sad to be where our ancestors strive to survive n be free.

Really interesting, and a good place to reflect on such tragic history - Excellent audio guide. So much to learn. Wear comfy shoes and if you can get there yourself rather than a coach you can spend ages walking round. We took a tour and had about 2 hours there. Would have been great to have some more time.

Amazing Tour - Our bus tour guide was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly and so informative. He showed us different landmarks along the way to the plantation and we learned a lot about the history of New Orleans in general. The Whitney Plantation was breath taking and so surreal. I was very emotional throughout the tour. I wish I had a tour guide vs. the audio.. I’ll make sure to do that next time.

Amazing experience - Our bus driver knew everything about the plantation and New Orleans. He was the nicest fellow we met on our vacation. The unplanned stop for pigs feet and sausage under the bridge was classic and the food was amazingly Nola. The Whitney plantation showed the realities of slavery and the truth of what happened in the period.

Very interesting and important view of history - This experience included a bus ride to the Whitney Plantation and a self-guided audio tour through the plantation. We enjoyed listening to the audio, which included recorded interviews from enslaved people, historians, and others, instead of doing a guided tour. We had just enough time to do the whole audio tour. This plantation is set up to be educational and is focused on the experience of the enslaved people who lived there. The art and memorials were moving, beautiful, and impactful.

Whitney plantation - The plantation was very interesting and I enjoyed the self guided tour. A lot of info was very emotional! It would have been nice to have lunch or at least food offered with a tour that long.

Unfortunately we had very... - Unfortunately we had very cold windy weather! Also our guide announced at the start was not feeling well so would not be talking much. As history buffs we were very disappointed as had hoped to learn a lot about this time in history! The displays at the interpretive center were excellent and held a lot of information to absorb on your own.

Not what I expected - First off the photo of the house on the ad isn't even the whiteny plantation, so that's very misleading and was disappointing as there isn't even an antebellum style house on the property. The tour itself was self guided with an audio device and no actual tour guide, it was educational, mostly about the history of the slave trade and how it came to be in Louisiana. Our bus driver was very educational though and showed us some other cool mansions along the way and had a lot of facts and suggestions of places to go in New Orleans, but honestly that's the only part I liked.
