Great Festive getaway! - Amazingly entertaining fun! I guess no one does Christmas better than New York. Though crazy cold, we could still explore the city and see all attractions, plus the Radio City Rockettes Broadway was a cherry on top!

Great trip - Tour guides were very knowledgeable and informative. It was very fast paced but saw a lot of things.

IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN LITTLE......... - The Rating I gave is for the beauty of the places visited, who to rely evaluate you. In June of this year after years of unsuccessful attempts I managed to go to the United States with The Great Trips. Wonderful holiday, beautiful places and very kind people. It would have been the perfect vacation if we hadn't had a mind-blowing incident in Washington. 10 hours transfer from Niagara, arrival in the evening and until here everything is regular, in the morning after breakfast I go out to smoke and I see that the road on which our hotel is is cordoned off and blocked by police SUVs. I contact the Guide to ask if we would have problems with the bus but I receive no Response; we leave regularly for the morning tour but the drama begins when we try to return to the hotel in the afternoon, for 50 years in the first week of June the Pride has been held in Washington, 600 thousand participants in a city of 700 thousand inhabitants. Morale blocked roads, two and a half hours in the sun trying to be able to cross to return to the hotel doing kilometers on kilometers until a policeman moved to compassion of our conditions let us cross. Dinner in Georgetown lost and replaced by a dinner in our hotel with Pride participants (against whom I have nothing but it was not for them that I wanted to go to Washington) singing and dancing and evening at the hotel to cool off the anger. For the record that day still cost me 1000 euros, I who am not a Tour Guide would have inquired about the route of the parade and once I knew I would have avoided returning to the hotel allowing customers to enjoy the whole day as their right, but I was part of an organized trip and I could not do anything. In addition to this in the Response received from the Great Trips besides not even saying sorry for what happened they were also ironic in commenting on my complaint. I add other setbacks, which without the Washington episode would not have carried much weight, I have been traveling for fifty years and I know perfectly well that there can be unforeseen events and problems small or large, but I have received thirty emails from IGV, United and Lufthansa for the time changes due to repeated delays (over 6 hours) and gate changes or the octogenarian driver of the transfer from NY to Kennedy who drove us 3 hours around NY and continued to eat fruit and vegetables for the duration of the trip throwing the peels in a bag between the two seats not always hitting it preferring my shoes or even the tour bus with the toilet off duty throughout the trip. Sorry I couldn't upload videos and photos because the format was not compatible and I didn't feel like looking for a video converter. I apologize for the exposure that was not the best but when I think back to what happened and what I could not see in Washington, where I will never return, I find it difficult to remain serene and I conclude by specifying that the trip cost 12000 euros.

A trip to remember. - Visiting famous sites and being given information on them in advance was the highlight of the tour. Brian, the singing tour guide was great, knowledgeable and entertaining. Overall the hotels were good and close to restaurants or supermarkets as well as having microwaves in the rooms for self catering. Our experience at the La Quienta Inn at Delawanna was very disappointing with blocked drains in the room, and we had to move rooms late at night then there was a dog in the adjoining room barking. Also the breakfast facilities were inadequate to cater for the number of people on tours. We enjoyed the trip and it covered everything that was outlined in the itinerary.

Nice and recommendable experience, even if it could be improved - Very interesting activities, certainly the best that the individual locations can offer. Clean tourist buses and excellent advice to use the bathroom only for short visits, in order to avoid the bad odor problems I read about. The frequent stops are also excellent for the many users who continually feel the need to eat and go to the bathroom. Internet connection in both buses however is very poor, you might as well say that it isn't there and equip yourself. Hotels of a reasonable standard and well located, without having to face the long queues that we are used to in Italy when groups arrive to check in, but with rooms immediately delivered by the Guide upon arrival. However, at least 1 hour of time should be guaranteed between the opening of breakfast and the appointment time so as not to frustrate the physiological needs of users, especially those who are not in the room alone, i.e. the majority. In this regard, you could also do an inspection or one less shopping center. Very interesting activities, certainly the best that the individual locations can offer. Niagara’s the highlight! - All things considered, the tour was well organised and enjoyable. My 5-day tour was broken up into two legs, with two different tour guides and tour groups. I enjoyed the first leg (Watkins Glen, Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls, the strip at Niagara, 1000 Islands, and Toronto) more. In large part coz of Niagara Falls— totally breathtaking!— but also coz the tour guide was better, and the group was more respectful of punctuality compared to those on the second leg of the tour. The second part of the tour (Philadelphia, Amish county, Washington DC) was tainted by tour mates who were almost never punctual (which compromised the itinerary), a smelly and dirty bus which reeked of poo (i suspect someone did a no. 2 on the bus toilet despite being advised not to do so), and an itinerary that included a little too much shopping (that was at the expense of more sightseeing and also time for museums). Also, on the second leg, due to unforeseen circumstances, there was a last minute hotel change from one in Alexandria, VA to another one in Cheverly, MD. The hotel was good. But i was not sure it was in a salubrious and safe neighbourhood. However all things considered, i would still recommend the tour. Though had I known the second leg would be less than ideal, i may have opted for the 3-day tour (i.e. the first leg only) and forgo the second leg.
