Steve - your ultimate guide to Greenwich! - My wife and I have done walking tours in Paris, London, LA and Chicago but none of them were as personable, well thought out and full of local stories that mixed the history with the current cultural atmosphere as Steve Krantz's Artistic, Alternative Greenwich Village Walking Tour. We had a small group of really good people. We can not recommend this tour & Steve highly enough. When we're back in NYC we'll be booking another tour simply so we can learn more about the area and spend time with our new friend. Steve has lived in the area for 50 years and we can't imagine anyone who knows the area and it's people better. 5 starts all around (we'd give him 6 if we could)!

Great Tour! - Dave was a fun, very informed and considerate host. Lots of interesting surprises about all the people and places he talked about, like what famous directors went to NYU, where Bob Dylan and Suze Rotolo lived on 4th Street, and all the other places he lived in the Village. Stories about what major celebrities were discovered at the Cafe Wha on McDougal Street, and about Groove the legendary music haunt with paintings covering the front of it by 60’s artist Rico Tonseca of all the iconic artists that played there. Stories about the gay movement at the Stonewall Inn across the street from America’s oldest national park. Stories of famous movie and sit com sets in the Village and the location sites of famous album covers. A lot of historical background, too, of the early days of the Village as a suburb, and of 19th and early 20th Century writers who lived and worked there, and much more! After this tour, you’ll feel that you really know your way around the Village and it’s past and present!

Best NYC Local Tour Guide Loyal to the Village - Steve is an incredible local tour guide who has been a resident and friend to Greenwich village for decades! He gave us the in-and-out secrets of Greenwich Village in a way that allowed us to love the area like home. Additionally, Steve had a deep knowledge of the history of the area and made it interesting and clear to understand. He was able to contextualize the stories in a way that tied the past with the present together. His “untold” stories celebrate the rich activism of the area and the lives of amazing women, revolutionaries, and the LGBTQ+ community, which continue to inspire people today. Steve is extremely passionate about the Greenwich community in a way that is contagious! 100% recommend this tour if you love history, art music, celebrity sightings + more!
