Additional Information

Embark on a guided journey through the ascension and ultimate downfall of New York’s most eminent Founding Father, Hamilton. This expedition is tailored for individuals who have experienced or intend to see the Broadway show that clinched 11 Tony Awards, or those who simply can’t get enough of the cast album. The tour contextualizes the songs, history, and geographies of lower Manhattan. Each song is associated with its real-life location, incorporating additional points of interest that further depict the era and localities where Alexander Hamilton resided and met his end. Each attendee will be provided with a Personal Listening Device to ensure every word and melody is heard, regardless of the city’s ambient noise.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
  • This tour “may” not be for children under the age of 9. There is a fair amount of historical information and stories, sometimes the younger children can become bored. However, you know your child best and this is more of a guideline than a rule.
  • I try to keep the harsher language out of the tour, but it is impossible to eliminate certain profanities and parents should be prepared for their children to hear this.
  • We do visit the gravesites
  • Tours are subject to cancellation when Wind Chill falls below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
Location
Staten Island Ferry Terminal
The tour meets INSIDE the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (Manhattan) on the second floor. We will meet at the far end of the middle row of seats between Door #1 and Door #2. Your guide will be at the far end holding an iPad with a Hamilton Tour Logo on the screen.

The perfect tour for musical theatre and history fans - This was a great way to spend a few hours in NYC, especially if you are a musical theatre and/or history buff. Our guide Leo was friendly, well informed and entertaining, combining history insights with clips from the show as we walked around various sights including Thomas Jefferson's house ("the room where it happened"), the original federal reserve and Hamilton's grave. Highly recommended.

You will learn some history and some fun facts in an entertaining way! - I’ve seen Hamilton several times over many years, and still loved this tour. We learned things we didn’t know such as there was actual 15 Schuyler siblings not just 3 sisters. It was very informative and a mix of walking & sitting. After the tour, we went back to Fraunces Tavern and ate their famous pot pie. Leo did a great job!

Fantastic tour - interesting history! - Leo was a fantastic guide and really brought history to life! The pace was perfect, engaging, and plenty of places to stop in the shade and have a seat. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the musical, this was a great lesson in early American history!

Hamilton fact and fiction - Really enjoyed the contrast between the historical life of Hamilton and what was chosen to portray in the musical. Also enjoyed the critique of the songs in the musical and what other music songwriters may have influenced them. Saw some interesting historical areas of lower Manhattan and learned many new facts about the city and US history. Highly recommend.

Dynamic, engaging, well-informed tour by a friendly, animated and knowledgeable guide! - Leo was just fantastic, through and through. His passion for all things Hamilton / Washington / downtown NYC was palpable and infectious. I brought my 8-year-old, who has a burgeoning interest in American history, and Leo's presentation was incredible food for her intellectual curiosity. Leo brought the rich history of the neighborhood to life, mapping it against references in the Hamilton score (which he played for us on our earbud devices), lifting out hidden meanings, historical references, pointing out how Lin-Manuel Miranda borrowed from and honored other hip-hop artists and musical theater composers. He was thoughtful about balancing standing, walking and sitting time -- along with the need for restroom breaks -- making the 3-hour adventure fly by for my child and me. I only wish I'd taken his tour years ago, as it would've deepened my appreciation for both the musical and my hometown. Highly highly recommended for anyone interested in Hamilton the musical and/or the person, Washington, Jefferson, the American Revolution, downtown Manhattan, or any combination of the above. Thank you, Leo!!

Awesome, Wow!!! - Our tour guide, Chazz, gave us the most well-researched, multi-faceted, well-composed experience on a windy and rainy day spring day. It was the perfect complement to our watching the musical the next day. We were our Hamilton shirts and sang our way through the rain. We are huge Hamilfans, especially our son, and this was our treat for his 12th birthday. He told me, "Mama, you told me that the tour guide will 'drop some knowledge' 😉, but I didn't expect him to have so many cool facts. It blew my mind." Book this tour to find out how Biggie Smalls, Titanic, and Texas almost became part of England are all related!

Hamiltonish Walking Tour - The tour guide, Chaz was awesome. He was knowledgeable and led the experience well. He was super helpful to ensure we arrived to the correct location. He provided technology so we could hear him. He covered much more than Hamilton facts which for me took away from the experience.
