Local guy shares the hood - This was a fabulous tour! Dennis was our guy - grew up in the neighborhood. Water a great casual evening with terrific local food and a personal tour of the area. So many great stories and nights from a guy who has lived here for life. I would recommend taking this tour earlier in your vacation so you can take some time to go back and enjoy the area. Dennis will be your connection - he knows a guy!!

Great night out! - If you want to have a great night, meet new people and listen to amazing stories, you should do this! Dennis, who is the guy in the photo, lived and breathed here so knew what he was talking about the area. You will find out some very interesting facts. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Not a good experience. - I would not recommend this tour at all. To start with, our guide named Dennis, was not equipped to handle a tour group this size. One guide with a large group, walking around at night in New York city, was not sufficient. That was proven, when I had to stop when I dropped a contact lense and he continued right along without us. It took myself and 2 friends over half an hour to find the group, after asking strangers on the street where the last meeting point was. Luckily we had some kind people give us the correct directions, along with google maps to find Mulberrry street. When we caught up to the group, I said to Dennis that the 3 of us have been gone for over half an hour, and he didn't even notice. His reply was that he only had one set of eyes, and he stopped at every intersection. He obviously didn't do any kind of head counts as he went along as didn't even notice we were missing!! There was an incident with a lady in our tour on her scooter when it charged forward and hit a couple of ladies, one of which was my friend. He didn't help any of them up again, nor did he check on them to ask if they were ok, or needed any kind of medical aid??? Didn't even ask if everyone was ok??? Also the head phone system that we had, was not good. It broke up several times and we couldn't hear him. His response was that we were too far behind and needed to keep up if the signal is lost. After our first meal he made jokes that we ate too much spaghetti and meatballs and were walking too slow. His knowledge of the mafia from what we did hear was good, however getting lost ruined the experience for us. The guide was flippant, sarcastic, and unsympathetic. Definitely not a good experience and I would not recommend this tour at all.
