Excellent tour! - Just a great, very personal tour. The small size is very nice. If you are into theatre it’s a great way to learn some neat parts of the history.

Interesting Broadway Facts - We took our tour with Mickey. She was able to give us a lot of information about Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway. We learned a lot of interesting facts about Broadway theatre. Since Mickey is an experienced actor, she was able to give a lot of insightful information about being an actor in New York. She also pointed out various Broadway theatres during our guided tour. One of the participants in our group asked Mickey how much an actor in the ensemble would get in a Broadway musical. Mickey told us she did not know. I did find this response disturbing in that she does know but she did not want to answer the question. Broadway salaries are all part of the union. The studio that we got to visit had amazing views of Times Square. It would be great if we got to see someone rehearsing. Unfortunately, we just got to see empty studios. I was interested in actually going into theatres. Unfortunately, we did not go into theatres. Although, I am not an actor, I am an avid theatre goer. I found this tour to be fun and informative.

Decent but Disappointed Don’t Recommend - This tour was ok but nothing special. I would not recommend. Talked too much about the Actors Union. We wanted to know more about shows and theatre history. Wouldn’t recommend.

Broadway was seen, but no actual “behind the scenes” in theaters occurred. - The title of the tour could be viewed as misleading. We met with Cullen our guide. Cullen was timely, personable, and very knowledgeable. Cullen was also great with letting you know the itinerary that was planned for your 2 hr tour. That being said, his knowledge was not always “theatrically”based. We did learn the history of broadway/their union, who Father Duffy actually was, the history/founders in broadway and general geographical history of NYC/Broadway. So back to the title - Broadway behind the scenes. We walked and talked for two hours. We did walk inside one small, very old theatre and viewed the lobby. (Just seeing the lobby- was so rich in history and sparked many questions). At the end of the tour we viewed a couple of empty studios in Open Jar. With all of the theatre’s in Broadway, big & small…My expectations with your company would have been to see a stage/dressing room, something inside. Note- I didn’t say actually “walk” on a stage or go “into” a dressing room. But just to OPEN more doors in all of the theaters that we walked by in the area and get to SEE with our own eyes the historic beauty that is offered and many are not shown. I would even suggest changing the cost to make this happen if need be. Another suggestion is to better the guides(Broadway actors/actresses) and their allowance into a variety of theatre’s that are on Broadway. People want to actually SEE behind the scenes- not just hear it being said as you walk by over a dozen theaters. A guide with actual Broadway acting experience would have been noteworthy as well. Cullen was great, but had no “inside” mastery of Theatre. This company obviously has control on who guides what tours. Our guide mentioned he preforms other tours for this company. In ending, I did book this tour due to the amazing reviews. So, kudos to your company for that. BUT, I encourage you to reach higher and truly show your audience “behind the scenes”.
