Hear the stories of immigrants who passed through Ellis Island and learn about the creation and symbolism of the Statue of Liberty.
On this guided tour, your expert New Yorker will get your reserve-line ferry tickets and ride with you to Liberty Island and afterward, if you select our Comprehensive Tour, to Ellis Island for a tour of the landmarks around the island, such as the wall of honour. Once the tour ends, the exploration doesn’t stop there as you can continue inside the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration to explore its multiple floors at your own pace. An audio guide is included to help. You’ll also have time to visit the Statue of Liberty Museum as your guide prepares you for what you’ll see inside.
Our Liberty Express option offers a 2 hour guided tour across the water, and on Liberty Island, where you’ll learn all about the Statue of Liberty and our expert guide will also give you facts and tips if you wanted to visit the museum on your own after the tour.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. The tour departs promptly and if late, you will NOT be able to catch up and will miss the tour. There are no refunds for missing the tour.
- Please note the earliest time tour will have the least wait. Later tours will encounter longer wait times.
- The guided portion of the tour is approximately either 0.5, 2 or 4 hours.
- Food available for purchase on the ferry, at the Statue of Liberty, and on Ellis Island
- Operates in all weather conditions. Please dress appropriately.
- Security screening will take place prior to entering the ferry. Visitors to the park are required to undergo airport-style security screening.
- Photographs are permitted, but tripods and monopods are prohibited.
- Children 3 and under free with paid adult ticket.
- Guides are wearing orange hats AND/OR blue shirts or jackets.
- Pedestal and crown access are not included in your tour. Guided tours are not allowed in the pedestal or crown at the Statue of Liberty

Castle Clinton National Monument
Meet your guide on the steps outside of Castle Clinton's North Entrance. Castle Clinton is inside Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan.
Your guide will have your entry tickets. Just show up and tell the guide your name. They will be wearing an orange hat and/or a blue jacket/shirt.

Excellent and information - Alex Parrish was our tour guide. He was excellent. He is a doctor and well prepared with pictures and details.
Myself and 3 daughters thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

A moving reminder of liberty - This was an excellent tour made even better by our tour guide Chris Tripp. he was very knowledgeable regarding the history of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and for these two experiences this was so valuable. The tour was handled logistically quite well and up to the usual Viator standards. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone. My only comment would be that time spent at Liberty Island was, less than optimal, we would’ve enjoyed more time in the museum. We did have the opportunity, however, later to return to the island and spend more time, but we chose not to. Much of this experience reminded us how America is so highly regarded by citizens of other countries willing to take any risk to come here. Possibly a lesson for us now. God bless America.

I recommend this boat tour! - Chris Tipp was our tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! He is very passionate and professional. The wait time was very reasonable and short for the 4th of July. I highly recommend taking the earliest tour in the morning. Otherwise, it was very crowded. The boat ride was relaxing. Chris had all the shortcuts and quick tips memorized. He made the trip %100 better!!

Joseph K. - the exact tour guide you want! - Joseph K. is an engaging expert. Our family signed up for the Express Statue of Liberty Tour. Joseph weaved significant historical facts - beyond what appears in the average book - with theatrical flair that kept the entire group attentive. Our tour included people spanning the ages of 5 to 65. Joseph did an excellent job appealing to all...as well as keeping efficient with time and getting us to the front of the lines.

Sean is the best tour guide out there hands down!!! - My family and I had such a marvelous time on touring Liberty and Ellis islands!! Sean is a phenomenal tour guide and great historian! He is super knowledgeable and very passionate about his work. I have never had such an amazing tour guide like Sean who lives no stone unturned in making sure we all understood the essence, depths and historical facts about lady liberty! He is super animated and made the tour such an exciting adventure!!! We left yearning for more! Sean is an amazing human being and an exceptional tour guide!
