Highlights

New York City’s Central Park is a designated National Historic Landmark and claims the title of most-visited urban park in the United States. This sprawling green oasis in the middle of the city’s urban bustle covers 843-acres (341-hectares) traversed by numerous paved paths, making it a perfect destination to explore by bike. Due to the Central Park’s popularity, bike rentals often sell out during peak season, so pre-book your rental to ensure there will be a bike waiting for you. Pick up your bike, helmet, lock, and carrying basket at the rental shop just blocks away from the park. Choose from a selection of hybrid, comfort, mountain, and children’s bikes to suit your group’s size and style. Rent a bike for just an hour or up to 2 days, depending on your schedule. With the help of a free park map and the recommendations of rental staff, set off to explore more than 47-miles (75-kilometers) of bike-friendly paths that wind through open meadows, lakes, bridges, gardens, and memorials. See famous attractions such as the Conservatory Garden, Belvedere Castle, the Central Park Zoo, the Imagine Mosaic, and the Central Park Carousel. Enjoy the flexibility of touring on two wheels, and stop to admire the scenery or take a rest as often as you like.

Would definitely recommend the bike ride through Central Park. through Central Park. - We went on the two hour group bike tour,it was well organised. Isaac was a great guide; very knowledgeable and friendly. We stopped off at quite a few significant sites along the way. If time poor I would highly recommend this tour.

A bike is the best way to see NYC! - Quality bikes, easy pick-up, well located depot, and their guided Central Park tour is excellent. A lovely knowledgeable guide too. Go for it.

Great introduction to Central Park - I recently did a bike tour of Central Park with Chuck & it was a highlight of my first visit to NYC. Being a local, Chuck could share stories about the Park and surrounding areas. He kept the group together & travelled at a comfortable pace for all.

Great experience which you can do at your own pace - We initially intended to join the 10am daily guided tour. We got there at 9h50 but due to exceptionally long queues www weren’t able to join and opted for the self-guided tour instead. The app costs $10 dollars to download. There is a one way circular 6.5 mile lane going around Central Park. You can stop along the way and meander down the paths on foot only whilst pushing the bicycle. Too: for the guided tour, try and get there at least 30 ‘i items before the time. For self guided, the full circular tour is very long and can be on boring. Rather choose which sites your like to see and visits those only instead of doing the entire route. Most of the best photo ops are close to the main entrance and the zoo. So you don’t really need to venture out very far into the park.

No point booking in advance - Loved cycling around Central Park and good quality bikes. Only disappointed to see on arrival that booking and paying in advance is pointless, you still queue together with everyone who turns up on the day and pay the same

Perfunctory Handover - Good bicycles with helmets and safety chains, but a perfunctory handover - basically, "here’s the bicycle, off you go”. If you're not familiar with the gears and brakes (like us), figuring them out on the go on the streets of New York leading into Central Park and in Central Park is a potentially a little risky.

Crappy bikes, nice people - A woman, two men riding a bicycle through Central Park. $22/ bike Crappy bikes without fenders, so if it rains or you ride through junk you have problems. Fortunately, it was a sunny day. One's chain kept jamming Of the other two, the gears falters. One had a narrow racing saddle for people 55 and older. We asked for a bicycle basket, was refused for unclear reason.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT GO THERE!!! - Worst customer experience ever! Just unbelievable behavior from this vendor. This was a long story, I’ll try to make it short. We’re a family of 4, one of the bikes malfunctioned after 30 minutes. I called in and asked for help, they said they were very busy but someone would come to my location with a replacement bike in 20-25 minutes. I waited an hour then called again, they said someone is on their way to me and should be reaching in 10 minutes. I kept my faith (how could I know they were simply lying), but after 30 more minutes I called again and one of the ladies said nobody even left the store yet. Again, they promised me someone is heading my way right now. 30 minutes later - you guessed it, nobody came. I tried one last time to call, they promised me the guy is nearly at my location, 1-2 minutes away. After waiting 15 more minutes I gave up. We headed back to the store to return the bikes. When I got to the store I saw the chaos, so many people running around… I was too upset at that time to even talk to anytime. We just returned the bikes and left the store. During my WhatsApp conversation with one of the support girls, she was very honest and literally said: “management did not handle this well”. It’s nice to see how store management is hiding somewhere while some innocent girls are standing in the front line having to come up with excuses and being sorry for the store’s incapacity to provide customer support.

Assistance to be reviewed - It can happen that the chain breaks, but what shouldn't happen is that you are charged $25 for a breakage that occurred a few minutes after collection, most likely caused by a manufacturing defect. Be careful and maybe choose another supplier.
