I enjoyed the tour. Two thoughts were: the history of whiskey in the entire country was a little more in depth than necessary. I was much more interested in this particular distillery than whiskey generally. The second thing is I think tasting throughout would be better than giving all the whiskey at the end. Maybe start with the moonshine then bottle in bond and then the peated whiskey. This would also tie through the timeline of whiskey that the tour establishes.
Waiting until the end of the tour to get to the tasting was less than ideal.
The tour guide did not make like an announcement before starting, so I had to run after him after I asked to the bartender!
Really great tour! Everyone at the Distillery was friendly and clearly knows about the products and the history of American/New York whiskey.
It was my first time to learn American whiskey’s history. After tasting, I came to like American whiskey even more.
Fun tour, great tasting, helpful guide, but the talk at the beginning could use some visual aids during the history part. Otherwise great!
Our guide was brilliant. He told the story of the distillery with great humour and had plenty of interesting facts at his fingertips. The only slight negative was that it was quite distracting being given the overview of the distillery whilst the tasting was going on in the shop bit. The noise spilled over quite a lot. That aside there wasn’t anything else I would’ve changed, it was a really enjoyable tour.
The tour was very informative and the whisky - delicious.
Our tour guide was phenomenal, very informative and very personable. For anyone who is interested in learning more about this distillery and the process of making bourbon, this is by far one of the best tours I have ever done. Totally worth the money!
Tour guide was extremely informative especially about the history of whiskey distillation.
It was a great way to spend an afternoon. Although we did get charged twice for tickets by accident
The guide was so knowledgeable and it was way more in depth than I was expecting. I also didn’t realize there was a tasting at the end! I’ve already recommended this to my friends.
Tour was great and the peaty bourbon was the best
Cool history, tasty whiskey, distillery cat Jeffy = 5 stars
Plenty of time for questions. Honest answers and transparency; perfect for a whisky geek.
Overall great tour! Just wish we had more of a warning when we sat down / ordered drinks that we'd only have 20 min to sip our cocktails. (We were under the impression we'd be able to carry out with us).
Tour was nicely done and informative. Also enjoyed the book (The Kings County Distillery Guide). Like the irony of your distillery being in the Navy Yards.
Also liked your "peated bourbon" and plan to share my sampler with some friends who are hard core scotch drinkers. Your bourbon is good but hard to beat my go to choice... Woodford Reserve.
Frankly, I was surprised to learn how many of the top shelf brands are blended, sourced spirits and the take-away from both the book and the tour is that Kings County is dedicated to top quality craft distilling. I will be back next time I visit Dumbo.
Very informative tour. Great tour guide. Wonderful experience!
The tour was just the right length, and the guide (Jen) was engaging and knowledgable. We had a wonderful time!
