Highlights

New Zealand’s Most Popular Destination & Taking Sheep to the Barber Shop

Queenstown - Our tour begins in Queenstown, a lively resort town that stands as New Zealand’s top destination. From here, we embark on day trips that cater to travelers of all ages and interests. In the evening, we enjoy a cruise on the historic TSS Earnslaw steamship. During the tour, we visit a homestead known for its sheep, alpacas, and stunning garden. After dinner, we head to a specially designed amphitheater to watch sheep shearing and a sheepdog demonstration.

Note that you can extend this standard 11-day tour by one day if you wish to jump off a 43-meter (141-foot) bridge called Kawarau, located near Queenstown. Bungee jumping isn’t for everyone, which is why we offer it as an optional one-day extension to our standard 11-day New Zealand tour. Let us know if you’re interested.

A Pilot’s View of Paradise as Well as Blue Lakes

Milford Sound - Today, we take a day trip to Milford Sound, traveling to and from Queenstown by scenic flight. Upon arrival, we embark on a boat tour, cruising through clear waters and between picturesque mountains. Milford Sound has been voted the world’s top travel destination in an international TripAdvisor survey, receiving the Travelers’ Choice Destinations Awards. It is celebrated as New Zealand’s most famous tourist attraction.

Please note that due to unpredictable weather conditions in and around Milford Sound, it is common for our customers to travel by land either to or from the destination. When this happens, we make stops to enjoy Lake Te Anau, Mirror Lakes, the mountainous Monkey Creek, and a national park called the Chasm.

Landing on a Field of Ice & Leaving the World Behind

Glenorchy - Today, we take a day trip to Mount Cook (also known as Aoraki) National Park, traveling to and from Queenstown by scenic flight. Upon arrival at Mount Cook, we use a helicopter to land on a glacier. Of New Zealand’s 20 peaks over 3,000 meters, all but one are located in this park. Glaciers cover 40 percent of the park area, notably the Tasman Glacier. After landing on it or on Franz Josef Glacier (depending on the weather), we go on a guided snowshoeing or crampon hike, exploring blue ice grottoes and caves. Please note that the minimum age for the glacier hike is 9.

Bob’s Peak, Skippers Canyon, Flying Like a Bird & a Rollercoaster-Like Boat Ride

Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu) - Our morning begins at a scenic gorge near Queenstown called Skippers Canyon. It is mostly one-way, narrow, and steep with sheer drops of several hundred meters. After our scenic land expedition, we head to the nearby Shotover River for a thrilling jet-boating ride. Next, we visit Skyline Queenstown, where we take a cable car ride to the top of Bob’s Peak, offering breathtaking views in every direction. Lastly, as an excursion from Queenstown, we head near the village of Glenorchy for a zip-lining adventure, typically using six lines in total.

Eating with the Islands’ First People & Native Dances

Aoraki/Mt. Cook - After flying from Queenstown to Rotorua, we head to Tamaki, a Māori village. Here, we learn about native rituals, watch a cultural show, and enjoy a traditional dinner, which is included this evening.

A Natural Healing Pool, a Volcanic Crater & Hot Water Springs

Christchurch - This morning, we take a day trip to the nearby Waimangu Volcanic Valley. On a self-guided tour, we explore volcanic craters, hot water springs, and other geothermal features. Upon returning to Rotorua, we visit Hell’s Gate Geothermal Reserve and Mud Spa, where we bathe in a mud pool.

An Internationally Acclaimed Film Made Here & Glowworm Grottoes

Abel Tasman National Park - While traveling from Rotorua to Auckland, we make two important stops. The first is at the Lord of the Rings movie set, home to the internationally acclaimed trilogy, where we enjoy a guided tour and lunch. The second stop is at the Waitomo Caves, where we take a boat ride through glowworm grottoes, a truly spectacular sight.

The City of Sailboats & Seafood Restaurants & Wine-Tasting

Rotorua - We are given a guided sightseeing tour of Auckland. Today’s highlights include the Harbour Bridge, Maungauika volcano, the waterfront, Bastion Point, the beaches along Mission Bay (viewing only, no swimming), a scenic drive along Tamaki Drive, Achilles Point, wine tasting, and the Domain Wintergardens.

Our Tour Ends Today

Waitomo Caves - Transportation will be arranged to take you to the airport in Auckland.

Taken Care of in New Zealand - We booked a 9 day tour in New Zealand for our 25th Anniversary. We had a wonderful time. We were the only 2 on the tour. Prior to the trip Jessa took care of all the arrangements and made sure everything was ready for our trip. While in New Zealand Cindy made sure all our next day tours and lodging was sent to us as a reminder. She was very helpful and even arranged a tour of Tiritiri Island. I can not thank Jessa, Cindy, and CharlieTheTraveller for making our 25th anniversary memorable. it was nice to have everything arranged for us in advance and to have great customer service that made us feel taken care of the whole trip. All the excursions were fantastic and the transportation was great. I would Highly recommend CharlieTheTraveller. We will use them on our next big trip.

Kia Ora New Zealand! - I picked Charlie the Traveler because they had the best itinerary for New Zealand, allowing me to see both the North and South Islands. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I especially wanted to visit the shire and experience the Maori culture. Every day, there are activities to see the vast outdoors, beautiful country, and friendly Kiwis. Cindy, my virtual concierge, was very helpful in ensuring I knew my daily schedule. When minor problems came up, she took care of the issues quickly. I'm glad I extended my trip to New Zealand with Charlie!

Spectacular New Zealand adventure. - CharlieTheTraveler’s itinerary is quite extensive. It is obvious the company does not want its customers to miss any important destinations and attractions. CharlieTheTraveler is very easy to reach, making their personal concierges, booking agents, tour guides and the Founder himself all available to you if you are in need of anything. CharlieTheTraveler puts its heart into its services and prioritizes safety and trust above all else. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering they sell first-class experiences and the hotels they use are almost all 5-star (or 4-star in areas where 5-star hotels do not exist). They basically do all the thinking for you, providing all the tour guides and ground transportation. Their tours are set up in a way in which you do not need to arrange anything yourself but rather just have fun.

I felt truly immersed - CharlieTheTraveler has a great price for the amount of amenities included for the New Zealand trip. I was impressed with the meals that were provided as they were authentic and delicious. It is evident the company knew the country well. I felt truly immersed. The ice grottoes in Mount Cook National Park was breathtaking! It was such a great, active tour. The ice looked impeccable and untouched!
