This is our signature tour – an extended day trip to Milford Sound from Te Anau that ensures you see all the best bits that this place has on offer – we include extra walks, home baking, and a nature cruise on the famous Milford Sound.

Your Day:
Depart 8.00 am – Return 6:00 pm from your Te Anau accommodation. This tour is one hour longer than our Milford Day Tour.
A fun commentary with plenty of local knowledge included.
Travel the spectacular Milford Road – with up to 15 scenic photo stops along the way.
A chance to see Keas, Seals, Dolphins and the Fiordland Crested Penguin.
A nature cruise on Milford Sound on a boat with the maximum capacity of 75
Plenty of toilet stops

Additional Information

Embark on this all-inclusive day trip to the breathtaking Milford Sound starting from Te Anau. You’ll journey down the stunning Milford Road, accompanied by engaging anecdotes and enriched by a wealth of local knowledge. It presents an opportunity to spot keas, seals, dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguin.

Indulge in a delightful morning tea featuring delicious date scones, tea, coffee, hot chocolate along with biscuits, and chocolates. Also a wonderful 20-minute stroll to the Chasm is part of the experience.

You are offered the stunning 30-minute trek to Milford Sound. The highlight is the Marian Cascade - a perpetual waterfall running off a glacial lake. To cap off your day, you’ll enjoy a two-hour sail on the renowned Milford Sound.

You may come to our address at 7:40 am on the morning of your tour. We are at 210 Milford Road, Te Anau. You will see a sign for Birchwood Cottages and then the NZ flag and a sign on the fence for “Fiordland tours/Milford Sound”. Come down the long drive and park on the grass on your left.

Milford Sound Cruise from Te Anau - Great tour on so many levels! - What a fabulous way to spend a day visiting the Te Anau area. A cruise on Milford Sound was on my list to must dos when planning my NZ trip, and this did NOT disappoint! Although quite chilly, it ended up being a fantastic day. The weather cooperated and spectacular views could be seen in all directions. Jonathan was a wonderful driver and guide, pointed out the scenery along the way and the significance thereof. Once onboard, the captain and crew were exceptional - so glad this boat was picked for this excursion. The ride back held even more adventures, with great easy nature walks and stops at awesome viewpoints. I highly recommend Fiordland Tours, for couples, families and even solo travelers like myself!

Milford sound drive and boat ride. - This was one of our favourite days while touring the South Island. We love the beautiful drive and all the beautiful stops! Our guide, Sasha was so very friendly and knowledgeable. Our family had a great day out and would highly recommend.

A great day out for Milford Sound. - This was a fantastic day out with the bus trip in and out to Milford Sound being an event itself thanks to Tania who was not only very knowledgeable about the area but also has a real connection to it. On the way out on the bus we had plenty of stops to view some of the more picturesque areas imaginable. Thanks Tania. The cruise on Milford Sound was exceptional with the recent rain providing multiple waterfalls to view. This is a very special area and one that is worth the effort to see.

Wonderful rainforest walking track chosen - The tour guide is very knowledgeable and experiences. Beautiful rainforest tracks on the way back. We saw snow mountain all the way in Spring which was the highlight.

Couldn't get better tour - Fiordland tours and Sasha were fantastic it's started with picking us up from our BNB and a comfortable ride to Milford Sound, Sasha was very informative and helpful she had lunch ready for us and attended to all our needs. The cruise was great and we loved every minute. 10/10

The perfect day - Fantastic experience! Our guide Stephen was super knowledgeable about the area and offered our small group flexibility for various stops along our route. The cruise itself was amazing as well. Very nice crew and a captain that not only pointed out landmarks but also wildlife (and then stopped in those areas for passengers to take pictures).

Marvelous Milford! - Fabulous day trip to Milford Sound! Steve was an amazing guide; full of knowledge and extremely friendly. He was an incredibly safe driver which I very much appreciated! Parrots, Fjords and majestic Mountains - Just had the most fantastic day in New Zealand. Tanya picked us up at our motel early this morning and drove us through Fiordland National Park to the incredible Milford Sound. She is so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the fauna and topography of this region! Greatly enhanced our experience with frequent stops for photos and a once in a lifetime experience with the amazing Kea bird, the only Alpine Parrot, native to this region. These amazing creatures are so inquisitive and intelligent, not to mention magnificent in color. Exceeded our expectations. Boat cruise and packed lunch with added snacks and treats were unexpected but very much appreciated. All in all the best 9 hours we have spent in New Zealand thus far. Highly recommended.

Recommend, with some tips... - Taking the tour from Te Anau so much better than from Queenstown for travel time. Endorse all the usual compliments re great host, small group, comfortable vehicle, good communication during bookings etc... Was a wet and rainy day and would definitely still recommend as a great experience. Dont let weather turn you off. Pre booked lunch was very nice, but best advice would be to pack a lunch (make your own or buy the day before) - only because you could do the same for fraction of cost. Windows fogging up in vehicle was an issue - though hard for operator to manage. We were continuously wiping window to be able to see out window. Take something to manage that. Several stops in National Park there and back added to quality of day. Recommend.
