- Holyrood Park - This scenic park in the heart of Edinburgh is known for its dramatic landscapes and historical landmarks. Dominated by the ancient volcanic peak of Arthur’s Seat, the park offers stunning panoramic views, serene lochs, and a variety of wildlife. In total we will spend around 2-3 hours in the park, with the full expedition lasting up to 4 hours.
- Arthur’s Seat - This stunning hike will lead to the top of Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh’s highest mountain. The view from there is a full 360º panoramic view of Edinburgh, with views reaching from the mountains all the way to the Scottish North Sea.
- St Margaret’s Loch - Nestled within the scenic landscape of Holyrood Park, St. Margaret’s Loch is a serene and picturesque loch. Surrounded by lush greenery and the rugged backdrop of Arthur’s Seat, the loch is a haven for swans, ducks, and other wildlife, making it a delightful stop.
- Dunsapie Loch - Situated at the foot of Arthur’s Seat, this picturesque loch is surrounded by lush greenery and offers great views; a perfect place for a brief rest and some great photo opportunities.
- Duddingston - We’ll pass this historic village on the edge of Holyrood Park. This charming area is known for its scenic beauty and calm atmosphere, adding a touch of history and serenity to our journey.
- St Anthony’s Chapel - As you stroll along St. Margaret’s loch, look up to see the ruins of the 700+ year old St. Anthony’s Chapel perched high above. Its presence adds a touch of historical mystique, making it a memorable highlight of our hike through Edinburgh’s historic Holyrood Park.
- Duddingston Loch - Duddingston Loch is a picturesque body offering great views. Being surrounded by lush vegetation, it is a haven for wildlife adding to the natural beauty of our hike.
- Salisbury Crags - We will enter a hidden gem in this area which is off the beaten path. This spot gives you some of the most stunning views of Arthur’s Seat itself. We will meander through the mini grasslands that on the Salisbury Crags.
