Wonderful day out! - We had a fabulous day with Dung Pham! Communication through WhatsApp was so easy. We were picked up on time, actually a little early. It was a private tour just for our family. Everything was very well organised. Dung Pham’s english was great, so we got to learn a lot about vietnam and the Nha Trang area. It was so nice to do a tour without many many other tours. Staff at the restaurant for lunch were lovely. We enjoyed our meal. There was so much to eat! Highly recommend to get a good look around Nha Trang away from the busy main beach.

Dung Pham's Nha Trang tour was fabulous! - This excursion exceeded all our expectations and we would highly recommend it. We enjoyed every minute of this tour. Dung pham planned a wonderful, full day itinerary for only $60 USD! Our group of 10 from the Diamond Princesss was picked up promptly at the port gate in a comfortable air conditioned van. The guide, Thuy, was very knowledgeable, friendly and spoke excellent English. Every stop was a highlight! We saw the countryside, visited a homes where locals handmade authentic conical hats, and weaved mats (I even got to try mat weaving), took a river cruise to a local riverside restaurant for a delicious lunch, visited an orphanage, observed rice paper (or noodle) making at a local shop, stopped at an embroidery factory to observe the artisans, visited the beautiful temples, shopped at the market and much more. This tour, along with our tour of Saigon, also with Dung Pham , were the highlights of our trip.

Highly recommended to see the "real vietnam" - Anyone wanting an in-depth tour of Nha Trang and its culture should definitely sign up with Dung. My wife and I just completed a three-week SE Asia tour with Tauck in December 2017. I wanted to go back to Nha Trang where I was stationed 50 years ago and it was not on the tour. We spent from 8:30 AM to 3:30PM with Dung and his driver in a comfortable air conditioned car on the countryside tour. It was the highlight of the three weeks in SE Asia. A couple of caveats for spoiled Americans: This is a third world country with poverty, poor sanitation and poor roads. There is a lot of walking, places to trip and getting in and out of a not so well-maintained boat. Dung speaks English well but with a heavy accent. He walks fast. He is very accommodating however to your needs. Again, highly recommend.

In Nha Trang Dung Pham is the man to see - After reading many favorable reviews we engaged Dung Pham for an enjoyable and educational tour of Nha Trang and nearby points of interest. 68 metre Buddah, noodle making, Conical hat and mat weaving, thousand year old Hindu Temple and the Pagoda orphanage. This was complemented by a delicious lunch by the river and Pham's extensive knowledge of Buddhism and a cheeky sense of humour. Visiting such sites we were delighted to note at no point were we asked to buy or donate anything. A great day out and good value for money.

Terribly Opinionated Guide - Not even 5 minutes into the drive after I was picked up from my hotel, the guide started talking about US politics after he learned I was from the US. He asked me if I supported Biden or Trump. I told him I don't discuss my politics. He then went on to talk about how covid wasn't real and it was just made up to make the US president look bad. I am in Vietnam, right??? It was non-stop talk about covid and vaccines. I couldn't believe this was happening. I almost asked to just end the tour and take me back to my hotel since this was not what I signed up for. During the visit to the home of a 66-year old grandmother who was still financially supporting her 5 sons who were unemployed, the guide asked me why I didn't bring my children to Vietnam. I told him I didn't have children. He then proceeded to tell me that I should have children because I would need someone to take care of me when I'm old. The 66-year old grandmother still supporting her adult sons says otherwise. As if it couldn't get any worse, he proceeded to tell me that the driver didn't have any children and he and his wife had been trying for a few years. I asked if adoption was common in Vietnam. He said it is not common because children put up for adoption usually come from poor people which means the children would have a poor mindset. He also said adopted children couldn't be trusted not to physically harm their adoptive parents, so it's better not to adopt. I have never been more disgusted in my life. I'm not sure if the guide felt so comfortable to speak so freely because I was a woman traveling alone or if he has these kinds of conversations with all of his tourists, but I can't imagine anyone having such incredibly sick views about human beings, let alone children, to be in the tourism industry sharing these views with tourists. As for the tour itself, my main purpose for wanting to take this tour was to visit the orphanage. Unfortunately, since it was a Sunday, all but 3 children were out for a picnic, so I didn't get the full experience. The description should probably mention that so that people can book the tour on a day that gives them the full experience. The owner of the restaurant was really nice and the food was good, so it wasn't all bad.
