- Nazi Concentration Camp “Crveni Krst” (Red Cross) - The Second World War in Yugoslavia began on April 6, 1941 and did not spare Niš, an important strategic and industrial center at that time. The headquarters of the German Gestapo moved into the city the same year, and that’s when the ethnic systematic torture and killing of the people began. The concentration Camp “Crveni krst” and “Bubanj” Memorial Park are sad reminders of that dark age of human history in this city.

Originally, there were 952 sculls, including the scull of famous Stevan Sinđelić.
- Cegar - Ćegar monument is a memorial to the casualties of the Serbian revolutionaries located on the place of the battle of 1809 in the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman forces. The Ottoman forces won the battle and later built a scull tower from the fallen Serb solders as a symbol of their power over the ruled people.

- Tvrđava - Niš Fortress is the most important and largest historical city monument. The existing form is of the Ottoman Turkish origin, dating back to the early 18th century. The Fortress was part of older Ancient Roman, Byzantine, and later yet Medieval forts, on well known Via Millitaris old Roman road. Speaking about Old Romans, Niš is a birthplace of Constantine the Great, first Roman Emperor who converted Christianity to the legal religion in Roman Empire in AD 313.
